Minnet and Jasmine Bowman.......killed by mother

Child-sized human remains encased in ice have been discovered in a freezer in the US state of Maryland.

A woman at the property told police the bodies belonged to her two adoptive daughters and had been there for months.

Detectives made the gruesome discovery when they went to investigate an abuse complaint regarding a third surviving child.

They have now launched a murder probe and believe the adoptive mother was responsible for the deaths.

Post-mortem examinations will need to be completed before police know for sure whether the remains belong to the woman's girls, who would be 9 and 11.

The mother claimed the remains had been in the freezer for at least seven months.

Investigations are still ongoing at the woman's home in Lusby, about 50 miles southeast of Washington DC.

The biological relatives of one of the two girls found dead in their adopted mother's freezer want the woman's surviving adopted daughter to live with them.

The bodies of Minnet Bowman and her younger sister Jasmine were found in September at the Lusby, Md., home of adopted mother Renee Bowman. Minnet's uncle, Ivin Randall, says his family wants the surviving 8-year-old to live with them because they are the family of the child she grew up knowing as her oldest sister.

The Randalls, however, are not biologically related to the girl. Her biological uncle tells The Washington Post that he wants the girl with him in Ohio.

Bowman has been indicted on attempted first-degree murder and child abuse charges in connection with the surviving girl. She has not been charged in the deaths.
