Van der Sloot confesses to murder
CNN
Joran van der Sloot could be formally charged as early as Tuesday in
the killing of Stephany Flores Ramirez, Peruvian government authorities
said.
Van der Sloot, who confessed to murder in the case on
Monday, will likely be held at one of three maximum security prisons --
Castro Castro, Piedras Gordas and Lurigancho, authorities said.
At
his first court appearance, the judge may set a hearing date for van
der Sloot and could order additional investigations in the case. The
Peruvian justice system often issues a lighter sentence in cases where
the suspect confesses. That may have influenced his alleged confession.
Van der Sloot could get up to 35 years in prison. There is no death
penalty or life sentence in Peru. A Peruvian police report
leaked Monday said Flores was found in his hotel room on the floor,
half-dressed. The report provides new details about the hours before
Flores' body was found.
Van der Sloot, who was twice arrested in
connection with the disappearance of Alabama teen Natalee Holloway in
Aruba in 2005, is in Peruvian custody as a suspect in the killing of
Flores, 21.
According to the document, the Hotel Tac, where van
der Sloot was staying, received a call from someone looking for him
about 11 p.m. June 1. The receptionist forwarded the call, but no one
answered. The hotel worker assumed that van der Sloot was asleep because
the room key was with him and not the front desk.
About an hour
later, according to the police report, the receptionist noticed that van
der Sloot owed money for two nights and went up to his room, where her
knocks went unanswered. The television was blaring, so the hotel
employee figured he was resting, the report says.
Afterward, the
hotel supervisor told the employee to go back to van der Sloot's room
and enter using a spare key. When the employee went in, she found
Flores' body on the floor, dressed in a black T-shirt and red panties,
half-covered with a piece of white clothing, the police report said.
Flores was bleeding from her nose, the report said.
The hotel employee became frightened at the sight and
went to alert her supervisor and the police, turning off the television
and lights on her way out of the room, the report said.

Re: Van der Sloot confesses to murder
Of course this story is "headlines" here too.
But I didn't read that Joran confesses to murder. On the contrary, he pleads not guilty. Nevertheless, his blood and that of the girl Flores was found on a shirt of his.
The girl was beaten to death with a tennis racket.
From the media coverage about Joran, you can conclude that he has a very narcistic disturbed personality. A ticking time bomb.
The death of Natalee Holloway didn't touch him in any way.
In the media here was also a report that he extorted Natalee's mother in paying him a lot of money. Therefore he would tell her where she could find the body.

The big American news channels are carrying this:
CBS News
ABC News
Fox News
Van der Sloot told officials he brokeFlores' neck in a rage after he discovered she had used his notebook
computer without permission and learned he was involved in thedisappearance of Holloway.
"I did not want to do it," La Republica
quoted him as saying. "The girl intruded into my private life." (Fox News)
Re: Van der Sloot confesses to murder
Nothing here about a confession. Maybe it isn't formally confirmed yet.
Nevertheless, I believe he did it. It was a matter of time after the death of Natalee. Now his father wasn't there to help.
No body no proof, is the similarity between the Holloway and te McCann case. But we all know he did it, because of the pile of circumstantial evidence, like in the McCann case.
Frustrating that the police couldn't get to him. Same for McCanns

I had never heard of this guy before I read this post. Is he someone famous ? It seems he got away with murder once, let's hope justice is done this time around....Has the body of his possible first victim ever been found ? I imagine her body was probably dumped at sea...

Re: Van der Sloot confesses to murder
A quote from the lawyer representing this piece of shit regarding the previous investigation..Wonder if he feels like eating his words now. It's tragic that this pyschopath has been allowed to go on and slaughter another young woman.
"It's fair to say that he's a pretty easy guy to point a finger at, a pretty easy guy to say, 'I'm confident suspecting him,'" said Joe Tacopina, who represents van der Sloot in the Aruba case. "And he's earned some of that and some of it he hasn't earned. He's been through the wringer. He's been detained twice in Aruba. There's been absolutely no credible evidence in that case whatsoever ... he was never charged with a crime there. Don't forget that."

Sociopathic tendencies
CBS News
NEW YORK (CBS) When media reports connected Natalee Holloway
suspect Joran van der Sloot to the murder of Stephany Flores, many
wondered if the full extent of van der Sloot's crimes was even
suspected.
Is Joran van der Sloot a serial killer?
Crimesider spoke with ex-FBI agent Paul Lindsay, who worked for
many years following, investigating and profiling serial killers like
the Green River Killer and the Highland Park Strangler. He says that van
der Sloot shows all the markers of a sociopath - but that doesn't make
him a serial killer.
While there are some similarities between Stephany's murder and those
committed by serial killers Lindsay has investigated, he says he
believes it is highly unlikely that there could be undiscovered victims.
While, he says, "Manual strangulation is popular with serials because it
gives them control over their victims," Stephany was all but killed "in
front of witnesses," and left where she was easily found. Serial
killers usually develop a signature, Lindsay says, so if van der Sloot
were responsible for numerous deaths, the public would likely be aware
of them.
But why then, if he killed Natalee Holloway, did he cover it up?
Although Lindsay
says he can't speculate on Natalee's case because so little is known
about what happened to her, he did say that a serial killer's "first
kill" is often very different from those that follow
But Lindsay does see a lot of sociopathic tendencies in the way van der
Sloot has conducted himself in the media since Natalee's disappearance.
Sociopaths typically don't conform to society's rules of right and wrong
because they are unable to pick up on social cues, Lindsay says.
"What looks like arrogance is more likely a sign of ignorance to
stressful situations," Lindsay says, speaking of the multiple
"confessions" van der Sloot has made. "When he says 'if I did kill
[Natalee] it's no big deal'," it's not arrogance it's indifference.
Van der Sloot's reported confession to the murder of Stephany Flores, or
at least the part where he tried to explain his actions, also provides
evidence of sociopathy, according to Lindsay. Van der Sloot reportedly
told police he lashed out at Stephany after she used his laptop to find
out information about him, and learned of his connection to the Natalee
Holloway disappearance.
"Why would he care if she knew about his connection to the [Holloway]
case?" Lindsay asks, pointing out that it would be very hard to find
someone who didn't know the connection.
Lindsay believes that if reports of van der Sloot's confession are
accurate, van der Sloot created the story of the e-mail and the
confrontation to justify his actions. Many sociopaths get their social
cues by watching television and mimicking what they see others do.
According to Lindsay, van der Sloot might not need a reason to kill, but
may recognize that others need to believe there was a reason.

Re: Van der Sloot confesses to murder
He is really a very disturbed person. Pampered by his wealthy parents, getting all he wanted, he developed a narcistic personality. This personality with his use of drugs and alcohol made him a very dangerous person. One, who unexpectedly becomes very violent, when things don't go the way he wants.
I believe that this was the case with what happened to Stephany Flores and also to Natalee Holloway. He was a ticking time bomb IMO.

He does appear to have traveled quite a lot and I really wouldn't be surprised if he had left a few more bodies in his wake. Father a judge who made excuses and covered up for him, misuse of drugs and alcohol and here we have one sociopathic killer.

Won't surprise me either.
This guy has no compassionate feelings at all. Torturing the Holloway family withholding the true story of Natalees disappearence or her whereabouts

Van Der Sloot will 'paralyze the process,' report says
CBS News
After a judge denied a defense motion to void the confession of Joran
van der Sloot on Friday in the murder of Stephany Flores, van der
Sloot's attorney, Maximo Altez, said he would appeal the decision all
the way to the Supreme Court, according to a report.
Altez previously told The Associated Press that he would appeal the
judge's decision to a higher court, and CNN reports that Altez has said
van der Sloot's strategy is to "paralyze the process."
Altez told CNN
that van der Sloot will use every possible law available to him, and
will even reach out to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in Costa
Rica once he has exhausted his options in Peru.
Criminal
law expert, Jose Balcazar, told the AP that van der Sloot can continue
the appeal but "that will not hold up the case against him."
According to the chief judge of Lima's Superior Court, Cesar Vega,
Peruvian laws allow up to six months for murder trials, but legal expert
Mario Amoretti said that in practice, cases like van der Sloot's can
last 18 months, and that the defense is likely to drag the case out.
Superior Court Judge Wilder Casique rejected the habeus
corpus motion on behalf of van der Sloot, who is jailed pending trial on
charges of first-degree murder and robbery in the May 30 death of
Flores, whom van der Sloot met playing poker in a casino and whose body
was found in his hotel room.
Van der Sloot also remains
the sole suspect in the unresolved 2005 disappearance of U.S. teen
Natalee Holloway on the Caribbean island of Aruba.
Casique
noted in a statement that van der Sloot had, in addition to the lawyer,
been afforded a Dutch-Spanish interpreter vetted by the Dutch Embassy.
Van der Sloot recanted the confession in a jailhouse
interview with the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, claiming it was made
under duress. If convicted, van der Sloot faces between
15 and 35 years in prison.
Explicit crime
scene photos, obtained exclusively by 48 Hours | Mystery
from sources close to the investigation and published exclusively by
Crimesider show a severely beaten Flores, her body badly bruised,
her clothes stained with blood.
Now he's suing his original lawyer!
CCTV images show this man entering a hotel room with a young woman, only him leaving the room and the young woman being found dead. Joran Van der Sloot now suing his lawyer because his confession stands. Arrogant, spoiled brat!
CBS News
Joran van der Sloot has sued the lawyer who represented him during a
police interrogation on the day that authorities say the Dutchman
confessed to killing a Peruvian woman, his current attorney said
Saturday.
Maximo Altez told The Associated Press he filed suit Friday charging
attorney Luz Romero Chinchay with misrepresentation, abuse of authority
and conspiracy to commit a crime. Altez said the initial lawyer
"pretended to be a public advocate when she is actually a private
attorney."
"We have searched the name of Luz Romero Chinchay in the list of public
defenders provided by the Ministry of Justice and her name was not on
that list. We do not know why the police called this lawyer. We want to
know who paid for her because my client did not," Altez said.
Under Peruvian law, a crime suspect who does not have private counsel is
provided with a public defender who works for the Ministry of Justice.
Altez said he also has filed suit charging the same offenses against
Col. Miguel Canlla, chief of the police homicide squad, who led the
interrogation of Van der Sloot.
Neither Romero Chinchay nor Canlla could be reached for comment.
A motion by Van der Sloot seeking to throw out his confession was
dismissed June 25. Van der Sloot recanted the confession in a jailhouse
interview with the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, claiming it was made
under duress.
On the night of June 7, police announced that Van der Sloot had
confessed to the murder of Stephany Flores on May 30 in his Lima hotel
room. The charge carries a maximum penalty of 15 to 35 years in prison.

I agree TFG. The other day, there was the report that he was going to 'paralyze the process,' and I guess this is part of his attempt to do so. I hope he gets banged up in one of those really horrendous prisons and that if he should ever manage to get released, that he will be extradited immediately to the US to answer charges of extortion and wire fraud. That should put him away for a good many years.
Re: Van der Sloot confesses to murder
Appearently he was followed by the FBI for the extortion of Natalees Mother by Joran. Appearently the cameras that filmed Joran were placed there by the FBI. The other pokerplayer who Joran was accompanying seemed to be an FBI agent. The hotel has no camera surveillance on the hotel rooms. Of course it was a "happy" coincidence that the camera's filmed Joran entering and leaving the room on the day Flores was killed. But the interference of the FBI now is used by the lawyer of Joran to create reasonable doubt that in fact Joran killed Flores.
Joran now denies that he killed her. And says that he was forced into a confession. That he is set up by the FBI.
It seems like he is performing his "old and succesfull" tricks again. The strange thing is, that although you catch someone nearly redhanded, it even is very difficult to prove that he did it.
Yes he was in the room with Flores, but the fact that he went out en came back with coffee and sandwiches now speaks in his advantage. Because of the time of death of Flores. He had no knowledge of the camera's that were put there by the FBI.

Unconfirmed news stating that a piece of human jaw found is that of Natalee Holloway.
http://frontpage.fok.nl/nieuws/416376/1/1/100/gevonden-kaak-is-van-natalee.html
De vorige week gevonden kaak is inderdaad van Natalee Holloway. Dit beweert een Curaçaose radiomaker zojuist op Twitter.
The jaw that was found last week does indeed belong to Natalee Hollowat. According to a Curacao d.j. who posted this on Twitter just now.
Although the news has not been oficially confirmed, it has been know for some time that the piece of bone belonged to a young woman. The NFI (Dutch Forensic Institute) has had the jaw since it was found. The Institute will probably confirm or deny this news tomorrow.
The American girl disappeared five years ago without a trace during a holiday in Aruba. Although the whole island was searched no trace of a body was ever found. Main suspect in this case is Joran van der Sloot who is currently being held in Peru.
