Two-year-old in critical condition after falling into Benidorm pool

A two year-old child is in a serious condition after falling into the family's swimming pool in Benidorm this weekend.

The boy was being looked after by his grandparents on Saturday morning when he was left unsupervised for a moment and fell into the water.

As soon as the child's grandparents realised what had happened, they alerted the emergency services and an ambulance was sent to the house.

The child was still alive when the paramedics got there, but after their attempts to revive him failed, they took him to hospital, knowing that his condition was very serious.

He remains in a critical condition in the intensive care unit at the Hospital General de Alicante.
