News:Police are growing increasingly concerned for the safety of 36-year-old Sheffield man Jason Mead.

Jason has been missing from his home address on Wortley Road in the High Green area of the city since 8pm last Saturday, 31 July, 2010.

He is described as white, 6’ tall, medium build with a shaved head, although he may now have short brown hair. Jason was last seen wearing blue Diesel jeans, a red and white small checked shirt and trainers.

Officers believe Jason stayed at the Premier Inn in Attercliffe overnight last Saturday evening into Sunday, 1 August, checking in at around 9.10pm.

It is not known what time Jason checked out of the hotel but his car was found yesterday, Tuesday, 3 August, in a lay-by on the A57 just beyond the junction with the A6013. The lay-by is close to the Ladybower Reservoir where Jason is known to go walking.

Police believe the car appeared at this site overnight from Sunday, 1 August, to Monday, 2 August, but nobody has since returned to the vehicle.

The last communication from Jason appears to be a text message sent last Sunday from his personal mobile, which was found in the car.

Jason is currently employed in the Macclesfield area but has not shown up for work this week.

Anyone with information about Jason’s whereabouts is urged to contact South Yorkshire Police on 0114 2202020 quoting incident 260 of 2.8.10.

If this is the place where I go the Ladybower reservoir is next to a very popular pub/restaurant - the Yorkshire Bridge Inn. It is also off the Snake Pass. The area is very rural with miles of walks which are popular with ramblers. Many fishermen fish the reservoir so hopefully they will keep their eye out for him.
It is a beautiful area so hopefully Jason is taking time out to think. It is a lovely place to get your thoughts in order and there are many places you can camp away from it all.
I will share this will all I know.

Body found near missing man's car

POLICE officers searching for a Sheffield man missing from home for eight weeks have found a body close to where his car was found abandoned.
The body, which was found close to Ladybower Reservoir in Derbyshire yesterday, has not yet been formally identified but relatives of 36-year-old Jason Mead, who went missing eight weeks ago, have been informed.

Specialist scientific tests will be carried out to confirm the man's identity and a post-mortem examination is expected to take place in the next few days to establish how he died.

Superintendent Martin Scothern from South Yorkshire Police said: "Police officers carrying out an extended search in the Ladybower area have found the body of a man. We are currently investigating to see if it's the missing person, Jason Mead."

At the time the grim discovery was made Mr Mead's wife Karen was driving around Derbyshire beautyspots with officers to point out places her husband liked to visit.

Mr Mead, a married father-of-two, has not been seen since leaving his family home on Wortley Road, High Green, on Saturday July 31.

He checked into the Premier Inn, Attercliffe, the following night and his car was found abandoned in a lay-by on the A57 close to Ladybower on Tuesday August 3.

Mr Mead has not made contact with friends or relatives since - leaving his wife Karen, daughter Darcie, nine and son Drew, five, frantic with worry.

The family launched a campaign on Facebook in a bid to find him.

Wife's tribute to husband

THE family of Sheffield man whose body is believed to have been found have spoken of their love for him.
Jason Mead, aged 36, of Wortley Road, High Green, was last seen by his family on Saturday July 31.

A body has been found near where his car was abandoned in a lay-by on the A57, close to Ladybower Reservoir.

The body is yet to be formally identified but Mr Mead's wife Karen 36, has accepted it is her husband.

Using a Facebook site set up to help the search, Karen thanked everyone for their support.

She added: "As for you Jason, I will never forget you and will always love you and never regret the day I met you in Churchills - you changed my life."

The couple's daughter Darcie, nine, left a message, from her brother Drew, five.

She said: "I will always love you for ever.

"Just come in my dreams give me the biggest hug, love Darcie and Drew."
