Woman from Missouri could face 12-year sentence for molesting toddler

A Christian County jury convicted a woman from Billings, Missouri on Tuesday for molesting a 4-year-old boy in 2008. The jury also recommended that Cynthia Stidham receive a 12-year prison sentence.

Prosecuting Attorney Ron Cleek says Stidham had the boy fondle her, and she would fondle him. Most of the time when this happened, Cleek said, both were naked. Part of the evidence was a video in which the boy described how he used his hands on Stidham. The boy said in the video that Stidham told him several times, "Now don't tell anyone or you'll be in big big trouble."

Circuit Judge Mark Orr scheduled sentencing for Aug. 13. Stidham is in the Christian County jail until then. The range of the prison sentence for first-degree child molestation is five to 15 years.

“This trial shows the public that it is not only men who molest children, but women molest children as well,” said Christian County Prosecutor Ron Cleek.
