A woman who crashed a car carrying seven children, including three in the boot, is being investigated by police.
The 35-year-old, from Melbourne, Australia, was allegedly over the drink-drive limit when she was at the wheel of the unregistered 1992 Mitsubishi Magna.
The car had a 10-year-old boy in the passenger seat, two 14-year-old girls and a 15-year-old in the back seats and three boys - two aged 14 and a 15-year-old - in the boot.
The five boys suffered minor injuries when the vehicle left the road and hit a parked car.
The woman claims the children climbed into the boot themselves through a panel in the rear of the car, apparently because they were feeling crushed by the overcrowding.
When confronted by the media, the woman apologised, saying: "I know I've done the most stupidest thing you could ever imagine. Please forgive me. Please, it's all I can say. There's nothing else I can say."
Police called her actions "mad" and said she was expected to face criminal charges.
----
Speechless really, other than to say at least she admitted her stupidity and apologised straight away, something the Mcs have never done.

Re: Melbourne Mum crashes car with 7 kids - 3 IN BOOT OF CAR!
Yes, a very stupid thing to do, but as you say she did at least apologise and admit her sheer stupidity, something we're unlikely ever to hear from the McCanns.
Years ago I used to get a lift home from work with a man in his 20s. There were several of us who travelled with him regularly, but he sometimes gave a young lad a lift part of the way and he always travelled in the boot as there was no room for him anywhere else. Even back then I thought it was a totally reckless thing to do, both from a safety point of view and the chances of being caught by the police, especially as this was at the height of the Troubles in NI and the police and army were checking cars all day, every day, and the first place they always wanted to look was in the boot. But we weren't stopped once when the extra passenger was in the boot - don't know what the RUC or army would've made of it if they'd found him there, probably he'd have been taken in for questioning as a suspected terrorist hiding from the law!
But getting back OT - this woman was 35, she was old enough to know better and if the boys climbed into the boot themselves she could simply have refused to drive until they got out. It's very lucky no one was killed or badly injured.

Interesting comparison -
Driver of this car: "I know I've done the most stupidest thing you could ever imagine. Please forgive me. Please, it's all I can say. There's nothing else I can say."
Kate McCann: 'I'm sure people will learn from our mistake, if you want to call it that. I love her and I'm a totally responsible parent'
Hmm ... these boys suffered minor injuries, but the car driver immediately admits (quite correctly IMO) to total stupidity.
Kate McCann's child was left alone in an unlocked apartment, something happened that eventually led to Madeleine vanishing, yet her mother says some people could call it a 'mistake' but that she's a 'totally responsible parent'.
That car driving woman hasn't learnt the lingo yet.

Re: Melbourne Mum crashes car with 7 kids - 3 IN BOOT OF CAR!
Would she have done this when over the limit? Perhaps not as she was aware and did apologise. We have all done silly things, usually when young and after a glass or two of falling down juice or to do a good turn for a mate, as in Dimsie's case. But seven kids in a car including three in the boot is frighteningly stupid and reckless to the extreme.....

I managed to get the second best rated comment on Sky "Well at least she admitted her stupidity straight away, something that wouldn't have gone amiss with the McCanns."
But it's been whoosh clunked
