Letter from former DCO Lenny Harper.
Wasn't sure where to post this so perhaps it can be moved once people have had a chance to read it.
Letter from former DCO Lenny Harper.
Dear Sir,
So David Warcup maintains he had to give out the now discredited misinformation at the infamous press conference to “protect prosecutions.” He becomes the latest police officer to fail to recognise that untruths and misinformation actually damage the chance of justice. He also persists in ignoring the clear fact that none of those prosecutions in any shape or form featured children’s bones or teeth. When one thinks of the massive publicity and speculation surrounding some notorious trials it is difficult to imagine how anything in Warcup’s world could ever get to trial. He did not seem too concerned when the trial of the British drugs dealer widely reported as being on the Sunday Times rich list went ahead with all sorts of lurid reporting including the publicity over the extraordinary armed security.
When what he said at that press conference is examined then his claims are even more bizarre. He states it was necessary to tell the world that there were no cellars – only three feet voids. We all know this was untrue. Not only was Robert Hall of Panorama filmed in the cellar and seen by the world, Jersey’s own Bob Hill blew that untruth out of the water recently. So why does Mr Warcup still insist it was necessary to brand the victims of the abuse in those “voids” as liars?
Then of course we had his claim that there was only one possible human bone and that was hundreds of years old. He forgot all about the statement of the UK pathologist and his evidence of the “fleshed and fresh” juvenile human bones being burnt and buried. Where did that statement go?
He also had to say of course, that I whipped up the media about the shackles which he said were no such thing. He conveniently ignored the fact that it was builders who identified them as shackles five years before I found them and they told Diane Simon and other reporters that we would find shackles. All this of course, despite Diane Simon’s JEP report being still accessible in which she clearly states that I had refused to confirm the existence of shackles despite her asking me about them. Come to think of it, Mr Warcup could have clarified this exact point with Diane when she interviewed him.
Now, what else was it that he had to say at the press conference to protect future prosecutions? Oh yes. My team and I had no policy to cater for victims. Well, the statements of the Jersey Abuse survivors seem to contradict that and indeed point the finger at his lack of care for them.
And finally of course, his claim that the tooth fairy does exist, further enlarged upon by his great supporter the Home Affairs Minister who said the teeth all fell out the same spot and went through the same hole in the floor. Of course they did!
Mr Warcup says he believes he left a legacy. He did indeed, but it is not one the victims will thank him for. He whines about the unjustified criticism of him in blogs which tell the truths the accredited media are afraid or unwilling to print. He should have thought of that before he spouted that load of nonsense in that press conference two years ago.

Re: Letter from former DCO Lenny Harper.
I feel very sad about this case.
It reminds me of a saying......if she's dead, she's dead......in other words......their dead, bring it all up again won't bring the dead back and it would cost a lot off money to find and prosecute these evil people, so best let sleeping dogs lie.
Justice is just a word I'm afraid.
After all, these children were unwanted anyway, so who cares..........
Unwanted in life....forgotten in death.....and swept under the carpet, after all, prominent people might be involved and we don't want to upset the apple cart, do we.
Best cover it up, it's cheaper.

Yep. Shovel it under the axminster!! Who cares , these kids were un-wanted, so why bother, they aren't human or have any feeling so f"ck it?
It really get's my goat, that there are so few voices to speak out for these children, I'm not speaking about Madeleine now, there are way to many voices shouting for this poor child. Why has this been allowed to happen? I think it is a huge cover up as like you say, who is involved?

Re: Letter from former DCO Lenny Harper.
Thanks for posting that mumbles, as it's prompted me to do a bit of reading on a subject I've been meaning to read up on for a long time.
http://stuartsyvret.blogspot.com/2009/09/lenny-harpers-guest-posting.html
The guest posting on Stuart Syvret's blog is really interesting, although very long and I haven't read all of it.
Very interesting to read some of the articles in the Jersey paper the JEP too,, where Diane writes. Very concerned about the damage to Jersey's international reputation.

I found all of this highly alarming and worrying but I did not consider at that stage that it warranted a full excavation of HDLG. (This is an important point, because after speaking to Gradwell and Warcup, the Met Police accused me of ordering the excavation on the evidence of a few “disturbed” people. I took issue with this description of the victims and made this clear in a number of e-mails to those concerned.) Mr. Gradwell confirms my suspicion about the origin of this slur on the survivors by his comments to Diane Simon. He and David Warcup at their infamous and discredited press conference last year also peddled this myth about the reasons for digging. The truth is simple to illustrate, because it is well documented.

Re: Letter from former DCO Lenny Harper.
It's interesting to read this, as I feel this is one of those cases that's been forgotten by a lot of people, to the detriment of the victims. Only recently I read two more people had been convicted, but it was buried in a small paragraph in the middle of the paper. My feeling is that abuse has been proved, for any convictions to take place, and it's those with least power to prevent this happening who are not able to escape punishment. There's power and money involved in this case, and it's being used to protect the criminals and deny justice to the children who suffered there. If only the money that's used to enable corruption and continuation of power could be spread around all social groups evenly the world would be a much happier place to dwell in .

Re: Letter from former DCO Lenny Harper.
Yes two people were convicted s few months ago off abuse.
A man of roughly 40 plus was also convicted tho how or why is beyond me because that makes him about 8 or 9 when hem was supposed to off abused kids.
They seem to think convicting these three will close the case but they are very mistaken.
It's just then tip off the iceberg and they know it.

Re: Letter from former DCO Lenny Harper.
I think in many cases that the "disturbed" description has been applied to children and adults who suffered abuse. For whatever reasons people did and do not want to look at the truth, and so when a vulnerable person finally gets up the courage to say what has been going on, they are described as being "disturbed" as if it is some explanation for their stories. Isnt there anyone anywhere with any balls to say, were sorry it happened, we'll bring the perpetrators to justice, its appalling that this has been allowed to happen, and we ll look after those who were harmed. Seems too many people have got too much on each other to want to have it cleared once and for all. Good luck to stuart syvret, its a shame the nationals dont pick up on this article and the convictions of those two men and make headlines of it. jimo

I've never read that, is there a link anywhere?
When you think about Eddie and Keela and the fact that the only two cases where their evidence has been ridiculed, the Jersey Care Home and this case, is it really too much of a leap to consider powerful people high up are involved in Maddies case too?? Oh!
