Wanting David Cameron to intervene is a lot different from getting David Cameron to intervene! I want David Cameron to buy me a new laptop, but I don't think it's going to happen!

No Political leader with any sense will touch the mccann case.

Well if so - I shall certainly have to write to him and tell him that "blue" is definitely not my favourite colour.
Of course the McCanns would love any interference from the PM and Politicians - they break their promises and bend the truth.

Re: DAVID CAMEROON TO INTERVENE IN MCCANN CASE?
What do they want him to do? They've already been "cleared" so they declare. Do they want him to convene a special session of Parliament to erect a statue to them as Parents of the Century?
All he can do is somehow get Scotland Yard to investigate this case, and I doubt if they do that, they can FORCE them to start where they want and look where they point.
I wonder - if they wanted that, why not demand intervention when they found out they were arguidos and the cops weren't looking for Maddie any more and were trying to fit them up? Why not demand it then? Why wait?
Did they wait thinking they would be shot down if it dragged on a bit? That with the new economic woes it'd likely get a NO from the government as it's expensive and unprecedented?
Like asking for the FBI which they supposedly did early on - why on earth would you ask the FBI to get involved, in a British missing person who went missing in Portugal, they are strictly US domestic - you can ask knowing the answer will be NO and still use the fact that you did ask as proof that no innocent person would demand the FBI. It's kinda like demanding to take a LDT except that in that case you would promptly be given one. So that's no good.

Re: DAVID CAMEROON TO INTERVENE IN MCCANN CASE?
This is now breaking news on Sky. They have written a 'heart-wrenching' letter to David Cameron. They met him when he was in opposition and he has been following their case closely. It is on The Sun's front page tomorrow. Cameron is said to be 'sympathetic' to their plight because he has lost a child himself but I think there is an official line as well from the Government which is about co-operating with the Portuguese enquiry, something like that.

Alex Woolfall got Gordon Brown to intervene....
(which proves your point!)
I hope David Cameron Does intervene and they retest the markers of the DNA as if I remember rightly... the standard of proof is different in this country in that the markers for the DNA considered as evidence is lower which means that the dna found WOULD be considered proof of maddies death as opposed to portugal with the magic number being 19.

Well, THAT is not helpful.
Geez Brown lost a child, Cameron lost a child - I presume they mean their child died not that they lost them in the more McCann sense of the word. However as sympathetic as they can be for a parents' grief personally they also have a constituency that includes others beside MccCanns including parents whose child has been lost for decades or years. They can't do for one what they won't do for all.
I think suggesting that they cooperate with the Inquiry is best... I would imagine they've seen the note from the diplomatic pouch about them being dodgy and also of course can see the basic comments of England apart from the papers who would love to have more of this story to "report" on, people are not interested in having their tax dollar spent on a pair of child neglectors who won't cooperate with the inquiry because it went cold when they refused to help.

And now Sky are saying they are appealing to David Cameron because they are completely fed up with Theresa May!!! May, they say, does not support a joint review.

They said the overwhelming response from Downing Street was it's a matter for the Portuguese authorities.

Re: DAVID CAMEROON TO INTERVENE IN MCCANN CASE?
I think Kitti means the end of the line before its started reference the McCanns request to David Cameron. The official line, thus far, is its a Portuguese enquiry. If Cameron has sense it will stay this way.

I wonder what cameron thinks of kate saying that parents of kids killed in accident or of cancer are at peace. Daves child died of natural causes, so i'm sure he's been fine since he died.

Re: DAVID CAMEROON TO INTERVENE IN MCCANN CASE?
But it has to stay as a Portuguese case. Portugal has, and always will have, primacy in this case. The most that Cameron or anyone could ask is that the Portuguese either reopen the case themselves, or that they agree to a joint review with the British police. A joint review doesn't mean the British police would see anything the Portuguese don't want them to, since presumably it would be to concentrate on the supposed leads the McCanns always say weren't followed up properly. All the British police would need are details of the leads and sightings, they could then review them and see if there's any that need to be looked at again.LJC wrote:I think Kitti means the end of the line before its started reference the McCanns request to David Cameron. Even the British PM can't change European law on a whim.
