Maddie Case: PJ Denies Involvement in British Investigation



The PJ has this Friday denied the existence of a collaboration with the British police in the investigation task into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, the English girl who was last seen in Praia da Luz, Algarve. The information was provided by Renascenca.

Remember that on Thursday night, the international media told of the British government’s decision to order new efforts in the investigation of the Maddie case. However, no information was given about an involvement of the Portuguese authorities in the case, only the participation of Scotland yard.

Me too, weary but all our Portuguese friends did say it couldn't happen this morning.

If that's the case then it's spectacularly, spectacularly arrogant of the PM to have made the announcement that they would be involved. Lord Harris said this joint venture had been in the works for quite a while, didn't he? Was he misquoted? What on earth is going on??

Could it be the serious fraud squad that will be looking into the case? That will be a UK issue.

The SFO although working from HQ in London is separate from the Met, they take on all serious cases of fraud from other forces all over the country and direct referrals from the public. They work independently so that is a non starter!

As far as I can see, nothing but a lot of hot air from journalists who have made fools of themselves by jumping on the McCann bandwagon. This has really backfired and has not turned out to be the great victory the McCanns wanted.

This is what the Daily Hell (mail) is reporting:-

Within hours of their desperate appeal, Home Secretary Theresa May announced that Scotland Yard would help Portuguese police review key evidence about Madeleine's disappearance, aged three, from an Algarve resort in 2007.

The McCanns believe potentially vital clues were missed in the botched Portuguese investigation, which was formally shelved in 2008. The Portuguese have been reluctant to reopen the failed inquiry into Madeleine’s disappearance but they have now agreed that the Met should lead a review of the evidence.

It is not clear whether British officers will travel to Portugal.

Ministers hope the Met team can bring a ‘new perspective’ to the controversial case and have agreed that the Home Office will fund their work, which will be conducted in tandem with Portuguese police.

So who exactly then is lying??

So they're going to try to convince the world that they need to take an oversight role in this investigation so that, whatever is found, purely innocent explanations can be cooked up by them and their lawyers asap, not after the fact. there s no part of your post im in disagreement with Weary. I think the McCs really thought they could get their hands on all the files to look through. Im sure all police forces will be startled at the level of investigation of metodo, halligan and the defectives, how the leads came about and how they were followed up.

it seems like its only us on here that can see what theyre up to,hope im wrong and they will get what they have had coming for a while.the king and queen of rothley towers seem to be in charge of this case and have so far had a good ride,lets hope things change and in no way will anbody be reporting back to them.

This sounds absolutely crazy - if the PJ know nothing about this then the statements which have been made by TM which are incorrect.
