This is not going to end well for both countries, especially under such a touchy time.

This Friday the Polícia Judiciária refuted the existence of any colaboration with the british police on the investigation on the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
Maddie: Yard will hunt missing clues
«THE Metropolitan Police was last night setting up its special squad to review the Madeleine McCann case - as a former top cop said: "If something's been missed they will find it."

«Mr O'Connor added: "It's imperative the two sides work well together. Attending the crime scene and re-examining forensic exhibits will be a delicate task to be handled with diplomacy.
"They cannot afford to give the impression they are showing the Portuguese how it should be done - that could be catastrophic."»

If not a diplomatic incident this will create a precedent that both countries will have a hard time to manage, in the future. In Portugal, I know for a fact that if the authorities do not react properly, according to the laws, the people will be very critical, and in less than 1 month there is an election for a new government.
Considering the amount of very negative comments that any article on the papers mentioning the McCann get, if the Minister of Justice doesn't oppose such an interference from Britain, there will be public rallies.

Merci Luz
it's very strange that the PM asserts that there is a joint investigation underway and in the same time , in Portugal, the Police judiciaire denies any new developpement in this case. What a blunder!
