Quake-Hit New Zealand City Hit By New Shocks
CommentsA 5.2-magnitude earthquake hit New Zealand's quake-hit city of Christchurch, prompting the evacuation of a building holding an inquest into February's deadly tremor.
The US Geological Survey measured the quake, which hit just 6 miles from Christchurch, at 5.2-magnitude and a depth of about 7 miles.

An aftershock measuring 4.4 hit the area some eight minutes later.

Police said they had received some reports of damage in the city, including flooding, and fears remained of people trapped inside buildings.

At least one building collapsed in the latest quake, with at least two people being rescued from the rubble by fire crews.

Reports indicate that power has been cut to the homes of at least 10,000 customers.

Much of central Christchurch remains closed off since a 6.3-magnitude quake on February 22 levelled buildings, killing 181 people in the country's deadliest earthquake for 80 years.

Christchurch cathedral dean Peter Beck described the latest quake as "very big".

An inquest into the collapse of one of these buildings, which began Monday, was briefly evacuated following the latest tremor.

Seriously now, in my lifetime I have never known such destruction of the Earth through Volcano Eruptions, Earthquakes, Floods, Drought ,Seasons

You are right. The major earthquackes are pointed out in the bible as a part of a complex of signs that would mark a period the bible calls "the last days", the period just before God will bring an end to the world as we know it (read: not the Earth, nor mankind, but will make an end to suffering and the causes of that suffering).
Jesus told his diciples that when they would see these signs the end was near just like the signs of spring shows that summer is near.

You can make up your own mind as to believe we are now living in this period, but for me it is clear to see. And like you many people are asking themselves what on earth is happening with this world.

Jesus Christ described a particular sign that we need to recognize. What he was pointing to would have global impact and would affect all mankind.
Jesus spoke about the Kingdom of God, which will remove wickedness and make the earth into a paradise. His disciples were curious about this and wanted to know when that Kingdom would come. They asked: “What will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?”—Matthew 24:3.
Jesus foretold a multitude of events that together would constitute a sign that would be identifiable from anywhere on earth
Jesus knew that following his execution and resurrection, centuries would pass before he would be enthroned in heaven as the Messianic King to rule over mankind. Since his enthronement would be invisible to humans, Jesus gave a sign that would enable his followers to recognize his “presence” as well as “the conclusion of the system of things.” This sign is composed of several facets, which together make up a composite identifying mark, or signal—the sign of Jesus’ presence.
Gospel writers Matthew, Mark, and Luke each carefully recorded Jesus’ answer. (Matthew, chapters 24 and 25; Mark, chapter 13; Luke, chapter 21) Other Bible writers added details to the sign. (2 Timothy 3:1-5; 2 Peter 3:3, 4; Revelation 6:1-8; 11:18)

“Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom,” said Jesus, “and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another.” He added: “All these things are a beginning of pangs of distress.”

Ridiculers rejecting proof of the last days

Jesus also foretold that on the whole Earth an educational work would be done . He said: "This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all nations and then the end shall come (Matthew 24:14).
Now, In 236 landen over seven million Jehovahs Witnesses tell all people what the Kingdom of God will bring to this world, and help them to live in confirmation with the righteous requirements of God, who wants an end to suffering and pain.
