Many of you will have seen reports or ads about a missing schoolboy Daniel Morcombe from the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.

He's my nephew, and my brother Bruce and his wife Denise, have raised over $100,000 to fund an advertising campaign which is currently underway, in an attempt to solve Daniel's abduction, and hopefully to capture the person or persons involved.
There has been wonderful coverage of this tragic event, including "Australian Story" on the ABC, and a major article in the current edition of "The Australian Women's Weekly", but still the crime is not solved.
The police now think two men were probably involved, together with a "blue car" as per the composite photo above.
Sending out emails may hopefully trigger someone's memory, or someone's conscience, and makes the image of Daniel and the "blue car" above available for longer than is available on an ad.
It would be greatly appreciated if you could forward this email on to all your email contacts, friends, relatives and business contacts, in the hope that someone will be able to provide the missing clue that the police are looking for.

HOUSE SOLD TO FUND SEARCH

THE family of a missing Queensland schoolboy has auctioned off an investment property to continue to fund the search for him.
Daniel Morcombe, 12, disappeared six months ago while waiting for a bus near his home at Palmwoods on the Sunshine Coast.
About $1 million already has been donated to the fund to find the youngster. His parents, Denise and Bruce Morcombe, say more money is needed.
The couple yesterday sold their investment property for $350,000, which will be directed into a radio, print and television campaign.

Daniel Morecombe's Mother Speaks About Her Loss


DENISE Morcombe hasn't seen her son Daniel since he vanished near a Queensland highway overpass in 2003, but she prefers to think he's dead.
As the first anniversary of the disappearance of British toddler Madeleine McCann approaches, Mrs Morcombe spoke to NEWS.com.au about the torment of having a child simply disappear.

Daniel was last seen at a bus stop on the Nambour Connection Rd on the Sunshine Coast on December 7, 2003.
Then aged 13, he was going to catch a bus to a local shopping centre to get a haircut and buy some Christmas presents.
A massive police hunt and community campaign to find Daniel came up empty, but Mrs Morcombe and her husband, Bruce, are still working full-time to find their beloved son.
While the family - including Daniel's twin Bradley and older brother Dean - still live in the Sunshine Coast town of Palmwoods, they now move in different circles.
“We’ve got a new group of friends,” Mrs Morcombe said.
“It was difficult being around some of our old ones (because) it would be hard seeing their kids grow up.”
When asked if she thought her son was still alive and whether she still might get the chance to see him grow older, Mrs Morcombe said: “I wouldn’t think so”.
“I would hate to think what he has been through (if he is alive).”

When he disappeared, Daniel was wearing a red Billabong T-shirt and dark cargo pants and carried a distinctive fob watch engraved with the word “Dan”, as well as a brown wallet.

'Closer to finding him'
Mrs Morcombe said she was still optimistic she'd one day discover what happened to her son.
“After all these years, I think we could only be closer (to finding him)," she said.
“You’d think someone must know the answer.”
In the wake of his disappearance, passing motorists reported seeing a man leaning against a the wall of an underpass near where Daniel was waiting for the bus.
Witnesses described the man as aged 25-35, about 175cm tall, with a lean to muscular build, gaunt face, weathered complexion, dark brown wavy hair and a goatee beard.
The Morecombes have since set up a foundation in the hope of finding Daniel and to assist other victims of crime.
Mrs Morcombe said the Daniel Morcombe Foundation had received plenty of phone calls and emails, but said anyone with information should contact CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.

One glance at the Morcombe family breaks the heart. The sadness is always there and Mrs Morcombe has suffered particularly badly, (as have the family). The McCanns for some reason have contacted them, probably via a website. The Morcombe case is still open and there are police full time on the job of finding Daniel.

Lynn the difference between the McCanns and the Morcombe is:

The McCanns do not offer the reward while its still fresh.....
The Morcombes lost their child in 2003 and again, only last December offered a 1M reward....



The Morcombe case is one of the most extensively investigated crimes in Queensland's criminal history. As of the 12 December 2008 the Morcombe family has offered a total reward of $1,000,000 ($250,000 from the Government and another $750,000 privately).

Daniel's disappearance was widely discussed in the Australian media and brought the issue of child safety to public attention.

The Morcombe family has started a foundation, the Daniel Morcombe Foundation, and has put all its resources into trying to find out what happened to Daniel. The foundation is committed to educating children about personal safety and to raising awareness throughout Australia of the dangers of predatory criminals.

Yes, when Daviel went missing it was big news. It was heartwrenching to see his parents on TV and it has been heart wrenching ever since. His mother has suffered dreadfully, and his father had under the house a "something" for the abductor/murderer when caught. There was absolutely no doubt there was suffering by the whole family! The McCanns make me feel angry because of their lies. There are new leads on Daniel's abductor and one pedo has been named, and there are other pedos of interest. It would be a miracle if Daniel were found alive!

This is disgusting. This piece of scum has been released from prison once for raping a 9 year old boy, after he was released he raped a 9 year old girl. Just watching this TV clip and it states he is to be released from prison again?????? WTF?????????? This has made me so angry. Even if he had nothing to do with this case, the bastard should be kept locked up until he dies.

Jail has done this pedo no good! As soon as he is let out he is at it again. Apparently, nothing can be done medically to stop the behaviour! There will be a hue and cry if he gets out though, plus all the others that serve time which is nothing but a farce isn't it!

Exactly and the fact that he's been in prison once for such a terrible crime and been let and committed further offences the Authorities should realise he is a danger to ALL children and he shouldn't get out again. It's obvious he'll re-offend. Quite frankly Lynn I'd give all these peodo's a lethal injection. They don't deserve to live after what they've done. They are totally sick individuals.

Actually, Pabby, a psychiatrist said quite openly to the media that nothing will help stop pedos...only a bit of lead. So, just goes to show how serious the situation is. There was a case in Queensland where a pedo was moved to a quiet town, and whole town protested and police were called in to protect the pedo. The whole exercise cost thousands of dollars! That particular pedo was and is very clever in hiding what he gets up to. An injustice to let them out into society.

Totally agree. Once they've offended they'll do it again, I just wish the justice system was harsher on them.

What a huge difference between these parents and the Macs. At least these ones know there is little chance their child is alive but then again they are realists and arent money orientated.

There is no cure for pedophilia so the problem will never end if they keep letting them out....and a little thing called human rights is far bigger than the victims rights!
