Dowler Family Set For £2m Hacking Payout

The family of murdered Milly Dowler is set to get a £2m phone hacking
payout as part of a settlement with News International, Sky sources
say.










It is understood the settlement will be made within the next
"couple of days" and an additional £1m will be paid to charity, a total
of £3m.


The payment will come after News Corporation boss Rupert Murdoch
personally apologised to the Dowler family in the summer for the hacking
intrusion.


The family were among a string of crime victims and celebrities who
are said to have had their phones hacked by reporters at the News Of The
World.

The expected payout will dwarf any of the others connected with the phone hacking scandal so far.


Actress Sienna Miller
received £100,000 and football pundit Andy Gray got £20,000, but it is
reported the PR consultant Max Clifford may have received £1m.


It is expected News International, the News Of The World's parent
company, will announce the agreement at a press conference later this
week.

The news of the alleged hacking of Milly Dowler's phone is widely seen as a turning point in the hacking story.


Voicemails were accessed on behalf of the News of the World, and
messages left for her were deleted to make room for more recordings.


This gave the family false hope that she was still alive, because messages were disappearing.


Milly, 13, was murdered by nightclub doorman Levi Bellfield in 2002.

Apparently there is another £million to be donated to Charity.

Siena Millar received £100,000 so at this rate News International will be paying out several million. The McCanns will have to produce evidence that
their phones were hacked and it it was anything incriminating that was said, it might be enough to re-open the case.!!
