Toni Clarkson snatched six-year-old Jacob to safety before she and her partner Paul chased the prowler out of their Benidorm room – only to later realise he had been in there for 15 minutes raiding their safe.
The 1.9m (6ft 4in) Spanish intruder has never been caught but may have used a cloned room key card to gain entry.
Mrs Clarkson, from Solihull, said she woke when she heard sobs from Jacob, who now needs counselling.
The 39-year-old mother of three said: ‘I opened my eyes and saw a stranger standing over the bed. I managed to jump on his back, near the stairs but he just shouted at me in Spanish and shrugged me off.’
The break-in took place in June but the family are speaking out now to alert others.

I'm sorry but this story doesn't ring true to me. If this incident really happened, Mrs Clarkson would not have waited 4 months, before she contacted the media to warn others. She could have contacted the press while she was in Spain or immediately she returned home. If Mrs Clarkson and her husband were asleep when this incident allegedly happened, how did they know this man had been in their apartment for minutes raiding their safe?

This story reminds me of stories of people who have had sightings of Madeleine, when they have been on holiday abroad. They wait until they have been home for a significant amount of time, before alerting the authorities of their sightings.

How did she know the robber had been in the room for 15 minutes? Were the police contacted, was a report made?
I'm not disputing that apartments are broken into at times but this kind of event usually gets reported in the papers around the area.

The fact that the article states the man has never been found must mean it was reported to the police, also very accurate 6ft 4", not many Spanish men are so tall. Quite frankly I don't believe a word of this story at all.

Don't believe a word of it. Why wait to warn others? Plus the 15 mins in the apartment bit. How did they know?

This fairy tale seems to have the aroma of Clarence Mitchell all over it....

Did he sign in and out or was there a clocking in clock for burglars fitted on the wall?
1.9 metres seems very precise to me, in a dark room, confused by just being 'woken up' and frightened by seeing a man standing over her this woman describes his height to within just 1cm..... I think not.
Why wait for over 3 months to warn others? Did she report the terrible experience to the Hotel management or the Police in Spain?

Sorry Clarence your story lines are getting more and more like a cheap third rate Australian soap script...

I agree with all. How could she know the burglar had been there 15 minutes? Just stupid. Would any parent sit around for that long if they knew they had an intruder in the property and they had children in bed? Also, why delay if they wanted to warn others. The summer has gone now. It could have been an old or made up crock of sh1te from pinky. There are many attention-seekers out there as well.

On the second page of the article, she states that she contacted police, the hotel and Thomson.

Yesterday morning (Sunday), Ms Clarkson (ToniClarkson1) was touting this article to other media guns on Twitter. Could be that Metro picked it up from there.

Thomson are not forthcoming, as it was 'a criminal act, beyond their control'. This guy was obviously a burglar (several incidents of burglary at this hotel), not a child snatcher.
But it looks as if the Madeleine angle has been added to up the ante and maybe force Thomson's hand.

Love the idea of a clocking in and out clock for burglers malena, of course it could be of great help when people don't have luminous watches

I think it is indeed a "tall story" nostone. I am also presuming the mother in this tale spoke Spanish, after all she said the man shouted something at her in Spanish, so obviously she can tell the difference between the Spanish language and the languages spoken by the many immigrants here, Romanian, Russian, Italian, Dutch, German, Norwegian etc etc. A 6ft 4" Spanish man would not be too difficult to locate, there are not that many of them !

So sorry about your loss the slave, but I do believe that many of the people who blindly support the Mccanns are somewhat lacking when it comes to using their own minds and thinking things through in a rational manner.

Probably too cheap to have thought of paying for travel insurance.

Clarence has spun this to make a "Maddie" story from nothing. He is losing his touch. It's not at all in the same league as "McCann Audience With The Pope".

But whenever a nonsense "story" like this turns up - like non existent little Maddies in swarthy India - it means that something else is happening, somewhere else.

I agree that it was possibly connected to the McCanns for nefarious reasons but is being reported now for the purpose of more attention for the McCanns. But think, if they are still feeling they need to keep their name in the press, however obscure, this may mean they are feeling vulnerable.

Well it's been more than 4 years and tm always wanted to warn the world that this brilliant abductor could strike again!

For a criminal to leave no mark on the lichen, drug 3 little ones and escape on foot without trace, surely he'd not wait 4 years to try his luck again. Don't think eggman was 6'4 but he was a swarthy foreigner.

Apart from one journalist George ....? writing about 3 years ago that tm should shut up the Sunday Mercury has been mostly pro parents in the articles I've seen.

But this story is a farce and I hope if the info was fed/assisted/embellished by Clarrie someone will speak out. I won't hold my breath, though.

Hello Slave, I'm very sorry you have lost a child and I am sending you a cyber hug. I am also sorry you have been at the receiving end of abuse in the Metro comments section. Unfortunately I have seen the term "you want the child dead" or you hate the McCanns" plus other derogatory comments, made by McCann supporters to McCann critics, on every forum I have visited or posted on.

I firmly believe that these abusive posters, either treat their children in the way the McCanns treated their 3 children on that so called family holiday, or they are wind up merchants, who get a kick out of upsetting people.

I went round trying to see if any of the other newspaper's had the story, but NOT even the SUN had it The McCanns are starting to use the Metro now and not the SUN I wonder why???? And I don't believe this story one little bit.
