It's fair enough to say that not a huge amount happens in the village of Bruton, Somerset. So when 13-ton HGV managed to wedge itself between two buildings, it was a pretty big deal.

Satnav, that perpetual driving boo boo instigator, was the culprit once more here, leading the as yet unnamed lorry driver down the wrong alley as he was attempting to deliver a load of soft drinks to one of the village's shops.

After a 26 hour wait -- including a fitful sleep in the truck itself -- the driver was helped out of his predicament by a tow truck, which fortunately didn't do too much damage. The lorry driver in question has since been suspended by his bosses at Ian Crank Soft Drinks.

Local pub landlord Mike Clifford told The Daily Mail: "Very little happens in Bruton, so this event was the talk of the town and the driver got ripped to pieces by the locals when he came into the pub. When he asked where the toilets were a lot of people started giving him directions and telling him to shout if he got stuck in there."
