Re: Natalie Putt
Family still hoping for Natalie
The search for teenage mother Natalie Putt is continuing four years after she vanished without a trace from her Black Country home, detectives said today.
They said the case is still open and they have not given up hope of finding Natalie alive. Her fate remains a mystery but police still receive anonymous tip-offs of apparent sightings.
She was only 17 when she disappeared from her home in Thornleigh, Lower Gornal, on September 1 2003.
DCI Andy Carter from Brierley Hill police station said as recently as six months ago a member of the public called claiming to have seen Natalie.
He said: “We get anonymous calls from people saying they have seen her but to date they have not proved to be of any use and end up being a wild goose chase. On one occasion a line of enquiry came to nothing as it was another Natalie Putt who we had been given information about.
“The case remains open but we have no lines of enquiry and no evidence to say whether she is dead or alive so we are keeping an open mind. It is not unusual for people to go missing and stay missing if if they don’t want to be found.”
Natalie went missing after leaving her home and baby son Rhys who was just 11 weeks old saying she was going to the shops. She has not been seen since.
Her family including father David Putt have been praying for information and at the start of the year told the Express & Star they hoped detectives would be able to solve the case.
Mr Putt previously said: “It is something which is constantly on your mind, there is nothing you can do about that but we won’t give up.”
Investigators who helped crack the case of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman were drafted in to try and find Natalie, originally from Wales. She is described as slim, 5ft 1in, with a pale complexion and dark hair. Call police on 0845 113 5000

New image released in search for Natalie Putt
Friday 3rd September 2010, 11:30AM BST.
An updated image of a teenage mother who vanished from her Black Country home has been issued in the hope it will help trace her and end a seven-year mystery.
Natalie Putt disappeared aged 17 from her home in Dudley in September 2003.
Using photographs of her late mother Jennifer and sisters Lowri and Rebecca, a computer-generated image has been created showing how Natalie may now look aged 24.
Her half sister Rebecca Coggins, aged 33, hopes it will be used as part of a new poster appeal to jog people’s memories.
The image was produced by charity Missing People. Specific facial features including cheek bones and hairlines from Natalie’s mother and sisters were combined to show how the ageing process could have taken place.
Nursery nurse Rebecca, who now lives in Nottingham, says she is “desperate” for news of Natalie’s whereabouts. “There is always hope and maybe this image could just trigger something in someone’s mind that they have seen while out shopping for example,” the mother-of-four said.
“I had a strange feeling when we reached the seventh anniversary of her disappearance and after talking to people we thought we should do something.
“I am desperate to find out what has happened to her or at least to know that she is safe. We will never give up.”
Natalie, of Thornleigh, Lower Gornal, went missing on September 1, 2003, when she left her home to go to a shop. She left behind her son, then aged three months, and has not been seen since.
Natalie’s mother Jennifer died aged 41 in 1996 while her father David still lives at the family home in Lower Gornal. Mr Putt said: “We have still got hope but the longer it goes on the fainter that becomes.”
Anyone who has any information can call police on 0845 113 5000.
