Eight people charged by Hampshire Police over alleged sexual abuse

Eight people have been charged with sexually abusing children in Hampshire, Lancashire, Berkshire and parts of London over an 11-year period.

The seven men and one woman face 61 charges, mainly of sexual assaults against six children under the ages of 16 and 13.

Between them, they are accused of abusing the children between 1988 and 2009 and a woman between 1977 and 1984.

The defendants will appear before magistrates in Andover on 10 November.

Crown Prosecution Service senior prosecutor John Locke said: "We have worked closely with Hampshire Constabulary right from the outset in what appears to be an opportunist group of paedophiles.

"It is alleged that the offences were committed in Berkshire, Hampshire, Lancashire and some parts of London."

The suspects were arrested following an operation by Hampshire Constabulary.

Tanszi I agree 100% as a paedophile will always have those sexual preferences just as an hetrosexual will have their own sexual preferences. So a paedophile will never be "cured" as it is their normal.

Yes, the Haut de la Garenne Investigation was hampered in every way possible, but especially by the old tactic (also used as we know in the Madeleine investigation) of deliberately trying to discredit the lead investigator. Despicable tactics from some ruthless individuals who obviously have a lot to hide. But I believe the victims of Haut de la Garenne will get justice some day, though it may be a long time coming.

Hi Dimsie, I lived in Jersey for several Years and Haut de La Garenne is inland. I left before the investigation but on my visits there since , my friends have told me there was no pedophile ring and the people who marched into the Royal square just did it for the publicity. Jersey is a very small Island 45miles.
Over centuries it has been Governed by the French, then the English and the Germans invaded during the last War, but did not mistreat the population
and paid for everything they bought. Again , because it is a small Island there was a lot of interbreeding and the reason Haute de la Arenne existed was
because Families ill=treated their children.

I have no reason to doubt them, they know what happened more than we do . There is corruption in Jersey as in most Governments but the governance
of Jersey is still very parochial and it was only when they encouraged Jersey to open up as an off shore tax haven that a new inflow of experienced
personnel came to Jersey to work in Banks and Accountancy firms administering these Trusts , so it is a very mixed population now.
