Were The McCann Phones Hacked Too?

Gerry McCann is to give evidence to the Leveson inquiry and describe how his wife Kate felt "mentally raped" when details of her diary were published.

The diary, written after Madeleine's disappearance, was leaked from the Portuguese Police files.

But will he tell of the couple's fears they may have had their phones hacked as well?

Certainly, the couple's spokesman Clarence Mitchell has talked to the Yard's hacking squad about his phone possibly being hacked, concerns apparently backed up by his network which found suspicious activity around his mobile.

I understand there is so far no hard evidence that Clarence's phone was hacked, but why hack his and not Kate's and Gerry's?

And it won't escape the cops' notice, surely, that if any McCann phone messages were intercepted, it can only have been after "the one rogue reporter" Clive Goodman was jailed and, according to the News of the World, phone hacking stopped.

Clive went to jail in late January, 2007. Nobody had heard of the McCanns until just over three months later when Madeleine vanished.

Even if their phones did get hacked it would not have been the correct ones as soon after the incident they were provided with untraceable ones.

Funny how the McCanns spokesman Clarence Mitchell, said their phones were not hacked, now all of a sudden, according to Sky news their voicemail was hacked. I see a big compensation payout on it's way to the McCanns which of course they'll put into the fund. They really need this big payout, because if they lose their libel case against Dr Amaral, they will have yet more lawyers fees and more court fees to pay out. Goncalo Amaral, has said he will countersue the McCanns, I wonder if he will countersue them if they lose the case, if he does and he wins, they will have more court costs and lawyers fees to pay.

I almost forgot, the McCanns and Isabel Duarte have ignored the order made by the Supreme Judge, to return the 7500 books that where confiscated by them, when Dr Amaral's book was first banned. If they don't return the books, they could all face a jail sentence of up to 5yrs for disobeying the Supreme Court Judge. More court costs and lawyers fees, plus the danger of losing their freedom. I can't see how they can wriggle out of this one, but knowing the McCanns and the power they seem to have, I presume at least one of their friends in " high places" will do their level best to make sure they do.
