I still can't quite reconcile the LSD trip narrative "Puff The Magic Dragon" with its success as a Children's song!

Shucks The End is Nigh, you've ruined my childhood memories of "Puff the Magic Dragon"! I actually didn't know what it was really about but of course I'm not surprised about anything from the 1960s.

I have heard stories that the song "Macarthur Park" has some very dubious origins - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amzJDSsC2IA - but I can't think of anything other than a druggy scenario. At the time I just thought it was a send-up of over-the-top dramatic ballads.

My eldest Son told me a long time ago that the Beatles "Lucy in the sky with Diamonds" was a reference to drugs, I bet there were loads of 60"s songs
like that.

Yes that's a well known one and the main initials spell LSD. However, I think it was Paul McCartney who said the song came about from a picture John's son Julian drew of a girl called Lucy. I think the first one is more likely!
