Leveson - 2.32pm: Toulmin is asked about coverage of Madeleine McCann's disappearance in 2008

2.32pm: Toulmin is asked about coverage of Madeleine McCann's disappearance in 2008.
He says that the PCC were in contact with the McCanns "but the system does require a complaint … and I don't think there was a complaint about those defamatory articles".
Toulmin says that Sir Christopher Meyer will shed more light on the McCann coverage when he gives evidence tomorrow.

now that will be interesting because isnt there a discrepancy in what G McC says and what Sir Christopher Meyer said about suing the papers.jimo

It has been described as a "misunderstanding". Meyer apparently gave no advice on a specific course. I guess GM thought he said sue. All is well.
