Re: Pamalam’s Webhost has been issued a with a Policy enforcement Notice from the MAIL Re: www.gerrymccannsblogs.co.uk
I am wondering if this might actually be a GOOD sign? I'll try to explain why. If you look at the links Pamalam gave, all of the original articles are still there, on the Mail's own site. Pinky hasn't had them removed, although he's had five years to do so.
If the Mail are getting antsy about their copyright, it means that they want people to go to their own site, and not Pamalam's, to read the material. So clearly they have no intention of removing it. Otherwise they wouldn't bother, as it costs time and money to pursue these things. They also clearly see Pamalam's site as being quite important and likely to be read by a lot of people, or again, they wouldn't be so bothered. They haven't taken any action against much smaller blogs or sites.
Pamalam, I suggest you remove the Mail articles but replace them with a brief synopsis - e.g. "On 21 May 2007 the Daily Mail ran an article saying that the PT Police had scaled back their operations, with only 50 men instead of the previous 200" &c &c. The Daily Mail cannot then complain about copyright if this is your own interpretation and work. Then at the bottom, give the link to the original article, for anyone who wants to see it. No copyright issues.
I know it's a lot of work but at least it would remove the grounds for their complaint. In the meantime, people should save those original articles in case they DO magically disappear, although I personally think it's a long shot - the Mail clearly intends to have those articles left online, to be read.
And I would only do it for the ones they've actually complained about, for now - make them work for it!

Pamalam I agree with Iris. I think Sarah Graham is perhaps simply justifying her position by insisting you remove these articles. I would imagine a lot of media people are currently getting a bit antsy with the changes that the Leveson enquiry could possibly make within their industry and will be more diligent than they would normally be.
Good luck & if you need help just let me now.

Isn't strange how they haven't got round to getting this removed? Now why would that be I wonder?

MADELEINE MCCANN 'DIED FROM OVERDOSE'
By Gary Cleland7:00AM BST 14 Sep 2007
Madeleine McCann
By Gary Cleland7:00AM BST 14 Sep 2007
Madeleine McCann died from an overdose of sleeping tablets, reports in a French newspaper claimed yesterday.
Tycoons withdraw support for McCanns
Madeleine's parents seek top PR figure
In full: The Madeleine McCann case
Guilhem Battut, an investigative reporter for the French tabloid France Soir, said Portuguese police had given prosecutors a file detailing how they thought Madeleine had died.
Battut - an experienced journalist who has worked on a number of major inquiries - claims police believe that evidence found in the McCanns' hire car will "prove that the little girl had ingested medicines, without doubt sleeping pills, in large quantities".
A source at the newspaper claimed: "We are not simply repeating rumours carried in other papers. This is not a theory, but a fact contained in hard evidence in the hands of the Portuguese authorities.
"It is all very well putting theories and opinions forward, but in the end this case will be decided on evidence. As journalists, we have been trying to establish what evidence is available."
DNA evidence which has reportedly been found in the hire car includes hair, blood and bodily fluids which match Madeleine's.
Police are said to want to examine the vehicle again. It is currently being kept in a safe place by the family who are considering having their own tests carried out on it as they strive to prove their innocence.
Portuguese police are said to be drawing up a list of 40 new questions that they want to put to Mrs McCann. But British forensic experts expressed doubts over the claim.
Alan Baker, of the independent forensic science organisation Bericon, said: "These samples are likely to be far from ideal. If it is just a smear or dried deposit you could detect the drug but not how much."
Last night friends of the family dismissed the latest speculation. Gerry McCann reportedly told a friend: "There are large craters in every one of these theories, in these ludicrous accusations.'
"As far as Kate and I are concerned there is no evidence to suggest that Madeleine is dead. We are 100 per cent together on this, not one grain of suspicion about each other."
A close friend of Mrs McCann's said: "She is a gentle mother who loves her children very much.''

That's the theory, but in practice the host might just "do an Amazon" and pull it anyway, rather than put up with the hassle.

The new internet copyright law kicking in on behalf of the duo.
I'm appalled by this.
The dastardly duo are now on a wrecking spree of our right to free speech and opinion.
They have to be stopped.
Read the new Blacksmith piece and have hope.
I urge as many of us as possible to save these archives to our individual computers .
I would be mortified to lose Gerald's own blog.
It's a fascinating insight into the mind of a 'grieving father'.
I read bits of it regularly, to remind myself of why the man is a grade A* cnut.

I've saved all the ones the DM objected to. I've got so much saved now that I'm going to need a new super computer. I'm not very techy, can I put it all on a memory stick and take it off my computer so that I don't use all the memory up?

I think that's a good idea Dazed and Confused..............

You can also get an external hard drive and save stuff onto that.

I too am sorry to read you are still being hassled. I would also advise as Iris has said. But keep copies.
IMO I think this is TM wiping out anything incriminating. I think they will disappear from DM site sometime soon.
How would they deal with people that have paper copies of these articles I wonder.

Ooh, thanks cherry. I've got one of those sitting in the drawer, so if I plug that in, it all goes on to that and I can delete it from my computer, is that right? I'm useless at these things.

Hello dazedandconfused, I'm wondering if you can put the information onto a usb flash drive, if you can, it will be a lot cheaper buying one of those, than buying an external hard drive. I bought an 8GB flash drive for just under £6 from Amazon and I put all my downloaded stuff on to it. I've just had a look at the price of external hard drives and the cheapest one is £63. I've only looked at one webpage, so they may be cheaper elsewhere.
Oops, sorry dazedandconfused, I see you already have an external hard drive, please ignore my post.

It's obvious the McCanns have 'got at' the Daily Mail, but what if Pamalam agreed to source anything she posts from Daily Mail Articles? It can be argued that this would create a few hundred more Readers giving Kudos to the DM .......

This is from the Telegraph Article......yet Gerry's Mother said Kate, in a rage. shouted at Gerry "It's me they are after, not you'

I'm just glad of the help. My thing says "clickfree automatic backup" and I think that's external hard drive as you plug it in and everything magically transfers to it, but I'm useless, so may have got that wrong.

Re: Pamalam’s Webhost has been issued a with a Policy enforcement Notice from the MAIL Re: www.gerrymccannsblogs.co.uk
You may have noticed I have removed some of the offending articles [I have kept copies]
then replaced the article with a link to Daily Mail site. It is going to take me forever to remove them all, as I have over 3, 000 pages to check on.
I was not ordered to do this; it was my decision, as I thought it may satisfy the Daily Mail. [It still may not] time will tell.
In actual fact the Daily Mail would need a court order taken out in America to get my site closed.
However, in the US there are a lot of websites and servers that are being shut down or seized without due process because of a blanket copyright law and DMCA that are being abused when people that don’t like a particular website, they will contact the [host] and if that doesn’t work then they will contact the [Upstream host provider] and try to get hosts entire account and servers shutdown.
Having said that it is possible that the [Upstream provider] could just pull the plug without a court order, for no other reason than they do not want the Hassle.

The problems I am having are obviously a consequence of this thread.

Good for you Pamalam, I would now get back to your provider and show them what you have done, make it clear that you are complying but it will take time. That should hold them off for a bit longer. Good luck!

Oh papalam, you have my sympathy, I presume the McCanns are behind all this, they really are paranoid and I do wonder why the Daily Mail caved in to
them, like everyone else appears to do. The photo of the laughing couple in amsterdam springs to mind.

dazed and confused, when you plug hard drive in you just click automatic backup, and it should then copy automatically everything onto the hard drive so I would think then it should be safe to delete stuff you dont want on the computer cos it should be on the hard drive should you need it.
