Sex Inquiry 'Not Over' As Ex-IMF Chief Freed
Mr Strauss-Kahn has rejected any role in pimping or
corruption
10:42pm UK, Wednesday February 22, 2012
Former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn has been freed by French police
after two days of questioning about an alleged prostitution ring – but he faces
another grilling.
The 62-year-old, once considered a frontrunner to be the next president of
France, is set to be quizzed again next month.
He faces charges of "abetting aggravated pimping by an organised gang" and
"misuse of company funds" in an investigation that has already implicated police
and businessmen.
The police investigation centres on alleged activities at
Lille's Carlton Hotel
During his interrogation, Mr Strauss-Kahn told investigators he did
not suspect women he met at orgies were prostitutes, as they were introduced to
him by senior police officers, a source close to the probe said.
Police want to establish if Mr Strauss-Kahn, whose IMF job and prospects of
becoming French president ended last year after his arrest for now-abandoned sex
charges against a New York hotel maid, knew that women who entertained him at
parties in France and Washington were prostitutes.
They also want to know whether he knew the escorts were paid with funds
allegedly fraudulently obtained from a public works company by his hosts.
Hotel maid Ms Diallo is pursuing her claims in a
lawsuit
Mr Strauss-Kahn, who lived in the US capital while head of the IMF, has
acknowledged having an uninhibited sex life, but rejects any role in pimping or
corruption and has indicated he will deny any criminal wrongdoing.
A source said he would be summoned to appear before investigating magistrates
on March 28.
That could open the door to a formal investigation being opened against
him.
Under French law, aggravated organised pimping carries a prison term of up to
20 years and profiting from embezzlement five years and a fine.
Mr Strauss-Kahn was arrested in New York last May following allegations that
he had subjected chambermaid Nafissatou Diallo to a brutal sexual assault in his
hotel suite.
But prosecutors dropped the case against him in August
because of doubts about the credibility of Ms Diallo, who is pursuing her claims
in a lawsuit.
The dirty old man, I hope the charges stick this time!!!

Re: Strauss Khan facing Sex Inquiry
When he was in court in the US I remember thinking then.......he looked as guilty as hell, and IMO even when he was released he knew it wasn't the end of any charges, that he was finished.
Its ok when your Mr popular (and Mrs come to that) and getting away with all sorts, treating people very badly, and your so safe, having all your little lap dogs running around for you like headless chickens, is all well and good, but when your days are number and your in trouble this is when all the skeletons pop out of the wardrobe......
All those people Kahn, either abused or treated baddly will be sharpening their knifes.
You would think these idiots would learn that nothing stays under wraps forever, and that skeletons ALWAYS come out of wardrobes

Morning Lillyofthevalley......yes, the U.S. Trial was a whitewash because Khan was such an important POLITICIAN but good to see the French have more
regard for justice than the U.S. Court had.

Arrests After Angry Strauss-Kahn Uni Protest
Protesters and police clash during a demonstration against Dominique Strauss-Kahn's lecture at Cambridge University Union
11:56am UK, Saturday March 10, 2012
Two people have been arrested after protesters clashed with police while Dominique Strauss-Kahn gave a lecture on economics to students at Cambridge University.
The former International Monetary Fund chief was greeted by angry demonstrators brandishing banners and placards when he arrived to address the Cambridge Union Society on Friday.
Trouble flared after around 150 people from the university's student union Women's Campaign gathered outside the building after marching through the city in protest against the event.
We invited Mr Strauss-Kahn while he was still head of the IMF and well before the international interest surrounding him
Katie Lam, president of Cambridge Union Society
Mr Strauss-Kahn quit the IMF after he was accused of sexually assaulting a chambermaid in a New York hotel last year.
He has also faced attempted rape claims in Paris and was challenged by protesters about the allegations, all of which were dropped.
Journalists were barred from listening to the talk - but one student in the audience asked the 62-year-old about the US incident.
Student Niki Horsfall, 23, who attended the speech, said Mr Strauss-Kahn's response to the question was "very professional".
Dominique Strauss-Kahn arrives in Cambridge to give his economics lecture
"He said he had spent a week in prison... and was acquitted," she said. "He was asked about the protesters and said they could do what they want."
She added: "Apart from that it was all economics."
The French politician was bundled into a police car to escape protesters after the event.
Society leaders defended their decision to invite Mr Strauss-Kahn to the university.
Katie Lam, president of Cambridge Union Society, denied the invitation had been made to "court controversy".
"We invited Mr Strauss-Kahn while he was still head of the IMF and well before the international interest surrounding him," she said.
She said officials invited speakers they thought "interesting" and did not make "moral or political judgments", adding the decision on a "no-press policy" was taken after discussions with Mr Strauss-Kahn.
Despite a heavy police presence and tightened security, some demonstrators tried to scale fencing at the back of the venue and two people were arrested.
A police spokeswoman said a 19-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of assaulting police and a 23-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of breaching the peace.
Earlier in the day, two people were arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage after graffiti appeared on the union building.
