Morning kathybelle, I don't think Gerry is a surgeon because while in PDL he was told he had been awarded a Research Grant from the British Heart Fioundation which meant on his return to work he was working in the Laboratory at Glenfields and advertised for an Assistant a couple of years later
which is why he was able to take so much time off work attending T.V. Interviews with Kate, Fundraising etc.

The description 'heart surgeon' was wrongly used in place of 'cardiologist' in countless articles, and it suited their image agenda down to the ground so was allowed to stand uncorrected (imo).


A cardiologist is not a cardiac surgeon.

I have already said in my post that a cardiologist doesn't perform surgery.

Absolutely spot on.
They used every marketing tool under the sun to get the public on their sides in the early days.
Initially the public perception was
"There is no way a catholic heart surgeon and his church attending GP wife could have anything to do with this"
When in fact the truth was it was a part time locum and a cardiologist who had not stepped into a church for years.

Right thanks, judging by the speed of Trial dates, I wouldn't be surprised if he knew he was going to be charged in 2008 which was why he resigned.

He retired because he couldn't defend himself while he was still working as a Police Officer.

and the British media still have the audacity to call the poor man "a disgraced cop" sardine munching and so and so! - I personally was so peeved about that, but have faith GA will have his day in court, how on earth are Lord and Lady McCann going to explain how GA is hindering the search for Maddie, when Kate in her bewk simply states she believes Maddie is no longer with us - huh???

Jail time in Portugal should be the least of their worries, (including T9) the fraud fund investigation is next!
When they do however reach their new home behind bars I can assure you they are both going to be treated very very badly in reciprocation for their bad mouthing of the Portuguese and the fooling of the British public.

I understand that it is pretty much universal that prisoners have their own peculiar moral code whereby those convicted of offences involving children are treated with the utmost contempt.
