Unless Kate and Gerry have substantial evidence to back up their depression anxiety loss of apetite etc etc they will run into serious problem at their libel trial. I have recently had a five year court case and the evidence I had to submitt was overwhelming. - lawyers letters, councillors, social workers, psycologists - all in all I had to produce 13 reports from 13different specialist fields.

I won my case thankfully - but the emotional damage I suffered still has an effect on me - DEPRESSION is a terrible thing for anyone to suffer through, so Kate Gerry and the twins (lawyer) will have to substantiate their outrageous financial claim on why Gerry is still working and Kate has written a "fairytale" - the twins will be the most damaged - thanks to Kate and Gerry's nasty evil bad bad ugly man comments, of that I am certain. My baby (19yrs old) still remembers the "Chuckies Bride"movie that she saw a few minutes of - accidently when she was 4.

My ex still picks on me (and laughs) about it! which really wasnt funny at the time.

ps: Maddies flower (Clematis Montana) planted on her fifth birthday in her honour is blooming beautifully.
a little earlier than usual - its a good sign.

Karen, one of my sisters had a similar experience to yours. She was making a claim against a health authority for negligence and she had to produce her medical records going back years to prove that her depression was not a long-standing problem and was directly related to the treatment she had received. She lost a child through medical negligence and it took a long long time for her to be able to live anything close to a 'normal' life. She could never have run 10 miles when she was in a serious state of depression and the only thing that regularly got her out of the house was walking her lovely Springer Spaniel.

Let's hope that Kate's medical records will be requested.

Morning Karen, sorry to read you have suffered Depression, glad you are O.K. now.

How can the McCanns possible get away with a claim for E1 million that Amaral's Book caused the whole Family ill health.?

1. The Book is published in Portugese so none of the Family could read it and would have had to pay to have it translated.

2. The Family stayed in PDL for almost 5 months after Madeleine disappeared, the twins still went to the creche every day , probably the Mccanns still played Tennis
and went jogging. Also Family were staying in PDL so they had help and company.

3. On return to the UI.K Gerry went back to work and Kate later worked with the Private Detectives and helped with the Fund.

4. They have made numerous T.V. and Public appearences and apart from a loss of weight initially, Kate is blooming now.

5. I think Amaral's Book was not published until 2008 , a year after Madeleine disappeared, but "suffering "as they were, they managed to instruct their
Lawyers to take out an injunction to ban the Book.

6. They managed, through their grief to set up a Company in 12 days, sell Merchandise and appeal for donations.

Karen, one of my sisters had a similar experience to yours. The only thing that kept me going was my cat, given to me after my breakdown, she is the love of my life.
As for Kate McCann she will HAVE to substantiate her claim end of, as for Gerry ditto, not sure what happens with the twins whether their school will become involved?
They have totally exagerated their claim as you said one doesnt feel "normal"for a long long time - depression is a desease - Kate grins like a cheshire cat and did so on what would have been Maddies 4th birthday!

what a load of rubbish, for starters Smethhurst didn't join the Board until well after Metodo 3 had finished their six monmth stint. It was Smethurst
who accompanied Gerry to Portugal to meet with the Portugese Lawyers to go to Court to get the injunction on Amaral's Book. He is the Corporate
Lawyer for Kennedy's Companies. I think any Lawyer will be hard pressed to claim E1 million to compensate for the suffering of the Mccanns and hope
that this will prove to be one Libel issue too far.

BTW Kennedy, who owns Billions to the RBs and a Bank in Australia is part of a Consortium proposing to bid for Rangers Football club
