I dont know what sort of state your pools are downunder Justiceforall - but in holiday resorts in Europe there are very stringent about standards and hygene - so much so the pools are very clear and cleaned of even a few leaves every morning so you would be able to see if there was anyone at the bottom of the pool just by switching the pool lights on which is what I am sure they staff would have done. Whilst folk are moving about the pool/bar areas at night the lights are kept on so that no one falls in - turned off usually around mid-night to stop the drunken skinny dippers! Well try to anyway!

Re: the swimming pool
Yes I was wondering how disgustingly scummy a pool would have to be for a body to go unnoticed!

I was thinking more of a swamp than a pool.

Re: the swimming pool
It's a fair point - when does Kate ever point out in her "only fifty yards" statements that there's a bloody swimming pool in the way? And a big wall, because the apartment was outwith the gated complex? And they're still giving us this "in your own back garden" rubbish. You can tell that the Swedes didn't believe a word of it.

I was thinking more of a swamp than a pool.
Or acid mud flats. Which would be devoid of people, especially on a public holiday.

Did they check the filter units, a child once did die in one whilst on holiday I am sure?

Re: the swimming pool
It's not actually a fair point, and I get a bit frustrated with this swimming pool issue coming up. The swimming pool was inside the walled tapas bar complex....their apartment was outside the parameters. There is no way she could have fallen in without first going through reception and falling in, right by the tapas bar!
Surely we've come on further than this old stumbling block!

No offence, but I think, so I think others do too.
Therefore, I would at least expect that the pool
was an obvious place to search and swiftly illiminated
as per normal police work.
