Kate's New Book

Big poster in front window of our WHSmith I noticed today. Advertising Kate's bewk in paperback. I'm sure it said there were additions to what was in the hardback but I didn't like to look too closely in case anyone thought I was really interested. Out May 10th for all of you who want to get in and reserve yours now.

I'll wait a little and get it for a quid in a charity shop. Like the last one.

I like to set the record straight by transferring any copies I see at Waterstone's, over to the "fiction" section.

I have just had an episode of rising bile.

WH Smiths cannot be doing very well financially. Their store in my town was usually very busy a few years ago. Now, it's never very busy since they're competing with the supermarkets and online booksellers like Amazon. WH Smiths offers top selling paperbacks at "buy one get one half price," while supermarkets are offering them at 2 for £7. Most things they sell are offered elsewhere a lot more cheaply and I don't know how they keep going.

It will be interesting to see what's been changed - probably thanks to people like us who have been analyzing and commenting on the bewk.

If we hadn't done so, the paperback wouldn't need any additions except perhaps a few astounding revelations by the twins who - like Jane Tanner - may have developed total recall to include the holiday. Kate intimated in the Swedish interview that she was 'taken aback' at what the twins could remember.

Sorry to hear that Smiths aren't doing well, although I think they're all right in the larger towns. I think it's more the internet and Amazon who offer books more cheaply that is to blame. The super markets have a far more limited stock of reading matter. Let's hope it picks up again, because I can always find what I need at W.S. Smith's.

I WOULD LIKE TO BUY ALL TRAVEL BOOKS/MAPS IN SMITHS AND WATERSTONE,THEY WOULD HOPEFULLY RUN AROUND RESTOCKING AFTER ME,THEY WOULD HOPEFULLY HAVE TO BRING A TRUCK OR TWO ROUND TO RESTOCK.
IT MIGHT BE A BETTER USE OF MY GOVERNMENT MONEY(SOCIAL) THAN THE GOVERNMENT IS USING ITS MONEY.
IF THE COUNTY COUNCIL ARE NOT ABLE TO CHARGE ME AS A RESULT OF MY SPENDING AND ASK WHERE THE MONEY GONE,EXPLAIN THAT I DID SOME ECONOMIC STIMULATORY ACTIVITY CONCERNING BOOKS AND THAT THE SUPPOSEDLY RICH PEOPLE AT THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY SPEND LESS THAN THE POOR,SO WHAT THE COMPLAINT.
