Another" sighting" ahead of Madeleiene Anniversary

I guess we can expect more of this as the fifth anniversary of Madeleine McCann's disappearance approaches.

Spanish police are investigating a report from their Portuguese colleagues that a girl fitting Madeleine's description is living in Nerja near Malaga.

The information was provided by someone living nearby the girl.

Apparently, Spanish police involved in tracing missing people have three such potential sightings a month.

But who knows where this might possibly lead?

The news comes after Portuguese police began a review of the case, which was initially abandoned 15 months after Madeleine vanished in May 2007.

Are you suggesting this is PR Martin - especially when you go on to say "Apparently, Spanish police involved in tracing missing people have three such potential sightings a month."

As we are nearing May 3rd I began to wonder where it would be. Peru? Nicaragua? What, only Spain? (nearly wrote Spin!) All sightings relying on lookee likee are nonsense on stilts IMNSHO. Even close family members can't compare a 'sighting' with a memory of 5 years ago. Each individual photo of the child captures a different view of her. No-one can say how a child's appearance might change over that amount of time... despite the best efforts of scientifically aged photos. Unless the child said: 'I am Madeleine Mccann' (three years old when 'disappearing' is old enough to know her mind) it is not worth anything. It's a complete no-no. Even then firmer proof would be needed. DNA evidence would be necessary... and though partly available via relatives... Of MM herself it is thin on the ground to say the least.

Predicatble that it is the Daily Express with the front page splash. Remember they had to pay out shedloads to the parents for earlier unfortunate articles. There is no love lost there. They are 'avin' a larf!

Nerja is a small place on Majorca. It has a large expat community . Are they trying to say that she has been there these past 5 years and no-one has thought " hang a bit, that child looks a hell of a lot like Madeleine. I had better wait a couple of years before mentioning it just in case I am wrong and could upset the poor parents". it's just another load of BS from TM and Clarry. The article in the DM said that info had been passed to the Spanish police by their PJ colleagues!!! Yeah right.

What they always fail to tell you is that Maddie has some sort of birthmark around her left knee, information kate offered in her earlier PJ statements. But they never ever mention this. If you are trying to identify a true real possible 'sighting' then this would be the first form of identification as well as the eye. If I know this information then the police, SY and the rest of them sure do

Yes I remember reading that. Snr Amaral also mentioned it during an interview I saw. Surely, they would have a list of every freckle, spot, mark, anything at all to help identify her, no matter how small or insignificant.

As you so rightly say, we are never told about the birth mark, iirc it was behind her knee.

Nerja is on the Costa del Sol, not in Majorca.

Sorry, it is on the CDS, not in Majorca. As you can see, geography is not my strong point!!!!!

Hi Keela, Iv'e been to Nerja but not Majorca so wondered how you worked that out.

Nerja is lovely and there is a saying about a Jewel but I can't remember the exact saying. There is a small area where you can stand and take in the
view in front of you, it's beautiful, no doubt someone will know what I am talking about....hopefully she says.LOl

Morning fred, those Brits get everywhere and the young guys who have to get drunk every night are a disgrace. One year when I was in Spain, four pride of British youth checked in and promptly took over. they were diving in the Pool where toddlers had been happily playing, yelling instead of talking but got their cumuppance. Apparently they were quite drunk in the Plaza and when they saw a row of motorbikes parked in a line they knocked them all down like Dominoes. Little did they realise the Spanish owners were sitting outside a Restaurant and saw what they were doing, rushed over and beat s*** out of them and the Brits were arrested and languishing in a Spanish jail when I left.
