The father of a British girl who went missing in Germany 30 years ago wants the Prime Minister to meet with her family as he did with the parents of Madeline McCann.
David Cameron promised to look into the case of Hartlepool youngster Katrice Lee, who disappeared from a British Army base in Germany in 1981, during Prime Minister’s Questions yesterday.
It comes as Spanish police received a report of a possible sighting in the Costa Del Sol of missing youngster Madeline, who went missing in Portugal in 2007.
Katrice’s family have battled for the Military Police to release files relating to the two-year-old’s disappearance for the past three decades.
Now her dad, Richard Lee, from the Stockton Road area of Hartlepool, says Mr Cameron should meet with Katrice’s mum, just as he did with the parents of Madeline McCann.
Mr Lee, 62, said: “What I would like to see the Prime Minister do is at least give Katrice’s mother an interview.
“If Maddy McCann’s parents can go and see the Prime Minister then Katrice’s mother should be able to as well.
“There seems to be a two-tier system with missing children, those who have and those who have not.
“And I don’t say this to be nasty or bitter, but the McCanns have spent millions of pounds on their campaign.
“They’ve had better treatment and better media coverage.
“We haven’t been at this for four years, we’ve been at this for three decades and I think the way that this family has been treated is despicable.”
Caroline Dinenage, who is the local MP for Katrice’s mother, Sharon, of Gosport, Hampshire, raised the issued in the House of Commons yesterday.
Mr Cameron met the McCanns while he was campaigning as the leader of the opposition. When the McCanns sent him an open letter after he became Prime Minister he replied saying that the Metropolitan Police would be re-investigating the disappearance.
Hartlepool MP Iain Wright has supported Mr Lee in his campaign and has said that he would fully support an independent inquiry into Katrice’s case

Re: Katrice Lee's Father demands PM meeting akin to that held with Parents of Madeleine McCann
I remember this case very well. On the first Anniversary of Madeleines disappearance they attended a Meeting at the BBC studios with a group from
""Missing". They were talking to a Woman whose Sister went missing from a Supermarket in Germany when she was 3 yrs old, the Sister was about
25-30 yrs old but still believed she would meet her one day.
Katrice was 3yrs of age and it was her Birthday for which her Mother was going to bake a birthday cake. When she realised she needed something from
a Supermarket she went with her Sister and Katrice and when she reached the check-out realised she had forgotten an item and asked her Sister to
watch Katrice while she went to another aisle to get it. When she came back there was no sign of Katrice , the Sister said she moved a few yards to
get something and Katrice had gone missing.
There was an immediate tannoy call to the Shoppers asking for them to look out for the child but she wasn't there.
Her Father was in the Army stationed in Germany and the Britsh and German Army , also German Police search everywhere imaginable but Katirce was never found.......a complete mystery.

I think Cameron has opened up a massive can of worms with his £3.5m review. Serves him right for having been taken in.

It was in fact on Katrice's 2nd birthday that she disappeared.

Cases like this one only go to make you realise how totally extraordinary and unique are the ways in which Madeleine's has been treated and has progressed.

Yes Iris, I agree and if SY HAVE confirmed the PJ Report suggesting Madeleine died in 5a , I hope David Cameron doesn't try to get a D Notice put on
it. He is a disaster as Prime Minister, re-active instead of pro=active, spends £30,000 on a new Bathroom for No 10 when the Country is broke,
£3.5 million on the search, Donations to the Party in exchange for Dinner at No 10, links to Murdoch......the list goes on.

Panda, I would move this thread to Daily News, but I don't seem to be able to move topics from this area.
