Will it be all quiet now till next year
The McCanns have certainly made the headlines for the last two weeks or so. I couldn't have anticipated all these programmes and publicity. So will everything go quiet over the next few days. I don't think there will be any great breakthrough any time soon. And it is a coincidence that these two stories have broken today. The sighting in the German campsite (only now publicised after 5 years) and then that advert. Wonder who was responsible for that. Very wrong whoever it was.

My thinking is that we will continue to hear about these "dreams and psychics" throughout the year until we have been suffocated to the point where no one has the will to go on. This is what i think they intend.
It's abduction and nothing but abduction.
ETA But I still won't give up.

They're doing a brilliant job, I'm getting close to that myself!
No, tomorrow is the extended book, the all-revealing launch of the epilogue. Perhaps it will contain a few 'facts' that have been adjusted after reading MM. The Capital M for Madeleine is one example.
I think we're going to get more - the book's been saved for another few weeks of tear jerking tabloid fodder.
Why was the launch of the paperback hardly mentioned?
Imo to spin out the publicity as long as possible. Don't bother, people who've already bought the book, will not buy another just for an extra chapter that's bound to be in the papers.
Those who didn't buy it won't buy this one either.
The translated editions were in the shape of a large paperback anyway.
All we need now is a pointless long journey made by the McCanns - say Argentina - to find that a girl spotted there isn't Maddie. That's good for another few weeks of articles.
After that, perhaps somebody can 'hack' their own website - that would give them some more time on the front pages. (Although their web manager who is paid 37.000 pounds a year for the job, should be smart enough to prevent it).
Well, it's early and I'm all out of money and publicity scams. Watch this space TM - but don't infringe my copyright.

I read recently that they have been given the same privileges as MPs. Must look it up, if anybody knows?
They are core participants.
quote
"John Toker, a spokesman for the inquiry, said core participant status would give the government the right to see documents and witness statements in advance and enable it to question other witnesses through its lawyers. Core participants may also discuss the wording of redactions in material to be published on the inquiry’s Web site.
But, he said, the inquiry imposes strict conditions and, for instance, requires core participants to sign confidentiality agreements to prevent premature disclosure of material provided to them.

Yes they were given 'core participant' status. Which meant they had advance knowledge of witness statements etc.
This week we have at Leveson;
Rebekah Brookes and Andy Coulson.
It has already been hinted that Cameron got this case reviewed by the Met as 'a favour to Rebekah'. Or rather 'The Sun'.
Now that tells me quite a bit.
Murdoch KNOWS.
He KNOWS what happened that night. He has paid for this ongoing saga..it sells newspapers.
How disgusting is this fiasco??
It's a story of child exploitation.
This poor child has made millions for the criminally , terminally immoral.
I shall be listening very carefully to Leveson.

It did look very bad that the sighting of Madeleine was wheeled out to coincide with the anniversary. And then stated it was all a mistake a few days later. Why didn't they check the facts. No wonder the Portuguese are reluctant to re-open the case if all the leads are going to be like this one.

But all the leads are like this one and therefore there's absolutely no point in the Portuguese reopening the case if the parents and accomplices are "off limits".

Yes. And there's no point in re-opening anything if they can't get access to Maddie's medical records, Kate's medical records or compel them and their Tapas friends to do a proper reconstruction. Thse are the kinds of obstacles which might be the reason behind their reluctance to re-open the case.

Re: Will it be all quiet now till next year
i m not sure about all this it says in Goncalo Amaral;s interview over on Joanna Morais today, oh and shown here, that Cameron and the Portuguese Primie Minister met in the UK on the 18th April 2012. i cant imagine that they didnt discuss Madeleine's case, and then we have Andy Dedwood making sofa talk, dead or alive, wheres the Reward, never mentioned, but comes up with 195 leads from dreamers and psychics, and says the Portujguese must reopen the case. All this crap has been spoon fed to the media. Then we have an ex Home Secretary Johnson bombasting the PJ as disgraceful and suggesting a political charm offensive. Did that offensive political charm already take place?
