Rebekah Brooks McCanns being discussed now on Leveson

THey are asking if she held the Prime Minister to ransom over publishing the McCann begging letter to the PM.

Leveson asking if there was a strategy or threats. Brooks saying it was more persuasion.

Jay QC asked if it is true that Brooks said they would put a picture of Teresa May on the front page of The Sun every day until a review was ordered. Brooks denies it.

Being asked if she threatened to put Theresa May on the front page every day if she refused to review the Mccann case.

The Mccanns were deeply upset that they hadn't had a review.

Campaign to convince HS to order a review.

Jay QC also asked if the figure of £1 million is correct for payment to the McCanns for serialisation of the book, she wasn't sure, at first she said hundreds of thousands. When the £1 million figure was put to her she said maybe half a million.

VEeeeeeery interesting that she contradicted previous (Gerry's???) testimony that they had been paid £1m for the serialisation of Kate's book.

RB said it was in the hundred thousands - and that there were ways of checking....

Yes it was interesting.

I don't know what figure was put on it by the McCanns. I found the whole thing interesting though. I know Jay QC said they can find out, not only about the figures but about the threats........or persuasion tactics as Brooks put it!

I hpe that the public will realise that there is just something not right about the help that this couple have received from the most powerful people in this country. Why upset the Home Secretary in this way? Why would the editor risk the relationship of her organisation with the govt?

Going back to Sara Payne; Brooks is clearly a lying, two-faced, self serving sort of person.

Who knows what her purpose was to 'order' the review.

I think it's a near certainty they were hacked, when you look at the others who were hacked of course the McCanns were hacked!

Agreed. I find Brooks' to be a completely repugnant woman. Just like Murdoch, the couple are to my mind vile and corroding.. They obviously get on so well together because there is, in my opinion, no difference between their flawed characters... like recognising like.

Brooks refers to the "campaign" and not sure if it affected sales of the Sun. Bearing in mind "campaign lasted 24 hours I would say it would be hard to check on sales.

So Did Rebekah say to No10 that she would run a story about Theresa May every day until the McCanns' got their review? Wish Jay had asked whether RB had put pressure on the Home Secretary as to what remit the "review" was to carry out. This bearing in mind that the excellent EVRD dogs are apparently being ignored & Met seeming to be more interested in psychics & dreams.

When I saw all that hair, I wondered how heavy it might be and why she allowed it to look so out of control. Bet it's tied back under her hat when she and her pal David go riding together!

Yep, I agree, it's more fishy than a piece of week old mackeral that they were not hacked. And it also raises many more intereting and pertinent questions. What a pity nobody is raising these questions in the enquiry. Like why weren't they hacked?

What then is Rebekah's real motive for "ordering" the enquiry?

And does she want a whitewash or for the McCanns' terrible little secrets to come out into the open so that the tabloid press can start again and make a whole lot of money from all of the stuff that forums have been going over for years?

Remember the headline......mccanns emails prove that Madeleine is dead...ok they added that the pj believe that the emails may reveal...but nonetheless...it was printed.
