Miami police shoot, kill naked man who was 'eating' face of another man

One man was shot to death by Miami police, and another man is fighting for his life after he was attacked and his face allegedly half eaten, by a naked man on the MacArthur Causeway off ramp, police said.

The bloodshed began about 2 p.m. when a series of gunshots were heard on the ramp, which is along NE 13th Street, just south of The Miami Herald building. Witnesses said a woman saw the two men fighting and flagged down a police officer who was in the area.

The officer, who has not been identified, approached and saw that the naked man was actually chewing the other man’s head, according to witnesses. The officer ordered the naked man to back away, and when he continued the assault, the officer shot him. The attacker continued to eat the man, despite being shot, forcing the officer to continue firing. Witnesses said they heard at least a half dozen shots.

Miami police were on the scene, which was just south of The Miami Herald building on Biscayne Boulevard. The naked man who was killed lay face down on the pedestrian walkway just below the newspaper’s two-story parking garage. Police requested The Herald’s video surveillance tapes.

The other man was transported to the hospital with critical injuries, according to police. Their identities were not released.

The incident, which came as crowds descended upon South Beach for the annual Urban Beach Week hip-hop festival, snarled traffic on the causeway for several hours.

In a text message, Javier Ortiz, spokesman for Miami police’s Fraternal Order of Police, said the officer who fired the fatal shots was “a hero.”

“Based on the information provided, our Miami police officer is a hero and saved a life,’’ he said.

Sergeant Altarr Williams, supervisor of Miami police’s Homicide Unit, said a man doesn’t have to be armed to be dangerous.

“There are other ways to injure people,’’ Williams said. “Some people know martial arts, others are very strong and can kill you with their hands.’’

Oh dear this is beginning to appear like yet another gun happy cop because according to that video the guy's face must have been in one hell of a weird place for the other guy to be eating it !

Yes, the two bodies didn't look like they were in contact when the cops moved in. Very odd.

Snap.....I was just about to post this from another source. Apparently , the guy whose face was eaten is in a critical condition in Hospital and the
naked man who was eating his victims face was thought to be homeless, no clothes , and probably starving. It is gruesome and you have to wonder
why the Cannibal chose his face, rather than an arm , or leg even,!!!! That poor victim, he must have been terrified.

Panda, the security video doesn't show that anything like that was happening. These people look more as if they're sunbathing. Let's hope that the truth comes out of this bizarre story but the holding of breath in the meantime is not recommended.

Flesh eating attacker dead on roadside

It has been reported in the last 12 hours that a naked man continued to eat another man’s face even after being shot by Miami police. The victim lost half his face and is fighting for his life in hospital.

The horror began about 2 p.m on Saturday when gunshots were heard on the MacArthur Causeway, Miami.

According to reports, a roadside-assistance truck driver saw a naked man chewing on another man’s face and shouted on his loudspeaker for him to back away. A woman also saw the incident and flagged down a police officer.

The officer, who has not been identified, approached and, seeing what was happening, also ordered the naked man to back away. Undeterred he continued to eat his victim’s face, the officer shot him, but still he continued feasting. Bystander reports suggest that the man just stood there chomping on a mouthfuls of human flesh before he succumbed to death after the officer had fired no less than six shots. The victim was transported to hospital with critical injuries. Their identities have not been released.

Investigators have suggested the attacker was homeless and may have been suffering from a drug induced psychosis; this is yet to confirmed, authorities appear reluctant to issue further information. However, Javier Ortiz, spokesman for Miami police’s Fraternal Order of Police, said the officer who fired the fatal shots was “a hero.”

A “hero”? The officer was not under attack. According to bystanders the attacker was locked onto his victim, he did not respond or acknowledge orders to desist, he continued to chew his victim’s face. It took six pumps to take him down. I’d like to know if the killer shot was a head shot?

Thanks anyway, but it is a bit too guesome for me, all I kept thinking of was the poor guy who had his Face half eaten away, even if he survives, he will have so many operations to rebuild his face it is really tragic. How come the policeman had to have 6 shots , surely he was near enough to have
two shots at most.

Yes, the video posted on Infowars shows 2 naked men lying side by side and no obvious contact between them as the police intervene.

Yes, in the CNN Report it suggests Bath Salts, I think they both were, to be naked in the street and the victim appeared to make no attempt to defend himself and get away.

This is certainly one of the most bizarre stories to come out of America!

Okay it does appear that something happened but it is not in the security footage; that shows that the attacker was lying facing away from the victim.

The Miami cannibal attack became a national obsession after homeless man Rudy Eugene was shot and killed by police on Saturday, but some conspirators claim it is just the latest sign that a “zombie apocalypse” is sweeping across the nation.


Anyone who read the news on Tuesday was familiar with the case of Eugene, the Miami man who was shot and killed by police after being caught in the act of chewing on another human being’s face.

But that is not the only event to happen in the last 12 days in Florida that conspiracy theorists say is evidence that the long-feared “zombie apocalypse” is beginning in the sunny state and elsewhere throughout the nation

The concept of a “zombie apocalypse,” during which humans turn into zombies and walk the earth in search of the last remaining humans so they can feed on their brains, has been popularized by movies like “Sean of the Dead” and “28 Days Later,” and has inspired books, blogs and more about the concept.











And the zombie apocalypse is nigh, if you believe the predictions of people like the writer behind the blog IHopeRickSantorum, who compiled a list of 10 zombie-esque happenings in Florida and other states between May 16 and Saturday, highlights of which are broken down below:
•On May 16, students and teachers at a Florida high school had to be decontaminated after breaking out in a mysterious rash, according to the Huffington Post.
•On May 21, a Bellwood, Illinois, man was arrested after allegedly biting an 18-year-old woman’s cheek, according to MySuburbanLife.com.
•On May 23, a Spring Valley, Calif., man was arrested for allegedly biting the tip off of his cousin’s nose off, according to NBC San Diego.
•On May 26, the same day as the infamous Miami cannibal attack, a Florida anesthesiologist allegedly banged his head against the inside of a cop car until he started bleeding following a DUI arrest. He then proceeded to allegedly spit blood in a police officer’s face, acccording to ABC News.

All these events, combined with the Miami cannibal attack itself, have sparked widespread fears — however irrational they may be — that a “zombie apocalypse” has begun.

As IHopeRickSantorum writes as a conclusion to the list: “All in same week and same state…. may God be with you Florida.”

The Miami cannibal attack is still the most chilling of the “zombie”-like incidents, however:

Larry Vega was riding his bicycle between Miami and Miami Beach when he saw the cannibal attack underway and flagged down a police car. When police officers arrived on the scene, they repeatedly ordered Eugene to halt the attack and leave the man alone. Vega told Miami’s WSVN TV that at that point ”the guy just stood his head up like that, with a piece of flesh in his mouth, and growled,”

Eugene did not cease the attack, and police officers shot him dead, leaving his body next to the mangled body of the victim, who has not been identified and is reportedly still in critical condition at an area hospital.

Police are still investigating the crime, but some reports state that Eugene may have been under the influence of LSD or “bath salts” when he attacked his victim:

“Whenever we see that a person has taken all of his clothes off and has become violent, it’s indicative of this excited delirium that’s caused by an overdose of drugs,” said Armando Aguilar of the Miami Fraternal Order of Police. “What’s happening is inside their body their organs are burning up alive.”

A homeless man who had most of his face bitten off by a male attacker in the US has been identified as a 65-year-old said to have been "in the wrong place at the wrong time".
Attacker Rudy Eugene - who was naked during the attack - devoured almost the entire face of Ronald Poppo on the side of a busy highway.

Police were called but witnesses said crazed Eugene, 31, continued to tear pieces from Mr Poppo's face even after being shot once.


He had his face eaten down to his goatee. The forehead was just bone. No nose, no mouth.

His attack was brought to an end only when the officer shot him several more times.

Mr Poppo, who was beaten and stripped naked during the ordeal, remains in hospital and fighting for his life.

"He had his face eaten down to his goatee. The forehead was just bone. No nose, no mouth," said Sgt Armando Aguilar, president of the Miami Fraternal Order of Police.

"In my opinion, he just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time."
