#Mccann Calpol Night WAS available pre May 2007!! McNeil Products have just confirmed to me via phone that Calpol Night WAS available pre May 2007 after approval for launch in Jan 07. In June 07 ONLY the PSUR reporting period requirements were changed. Calpol Night was publicised as being no longer recommended for children under six in Mar 09 and the product was formerly discontinued in March 10 due to ongoing concerns with it's safety. #McCanns could have used such a product each night after all to sedate the children whilst they went out on the pop 130 yards away from the apartment.
I called McNeil Products to confirm what I found in these two documents:

I read that Calpol was a banned substance in Portugal, and other European countries, at the time the McCanns were on holiday. I also read that the McCanns were asked by the PJ if they gave their children Calpol and they said no. However when the subject of the children being sedated was being discussed, Philomena McCann said they only thing her brother and his wife gave the children was Calpol. Kate McCann's father also said they gave their children Calpol, but whether he meant while they were in Portugal, I don't know.
I'll have a look on the net to see what I can find out.

There are many Calpol products that are not available in other countries, even today. Calcold, Calpol Night are two that I can name that are not for sale where I am. Indeed I have found Calcold a very good product and used to stock up when I visited the UK. They then changed made the minimum age much higher for its use so was of no benefit to me.
