Burnley psychic in hunt for missing Madeleine McCann

A BURNLEY psychic medium who helped the FBI catch a serial killer has spoken out about the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

Grandfather John Warne is convinced that the schoolgirl was snatched on behalf of an American, and that she is now living in Minnesota and attending college.

Mr Warne (82), a respected Spiritualist for 57 years, began his own pyschic investigation after being annoyed about a claim by television psychic Derek Acorah.

Acorah said that a messenger from the spirit world told him: “She’s not on this earth any more”, but he has since apologised to Maddie’s parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, saying he was misquoted.

Mr Warne, of Morse Street, Burnley, said: “I always thought the police would find the little girl. I didn’t want to bother looking into what has happened to her it because it is a lot of strain, but when Derek Acorah said she was dead I had to do.

“It doesn’t make sense to go to people and say she is dead. It’s diabolical. If it was the case that she had died he should have known what happened, who did it and where she is now. It is a terrible thing to say that someone’s missing child is dead.”



Mr Warne’s pyschic investigation leads him to believe that Maddie was kidnapped to order in May 2007, and that the snatcher was in the Algarve holiday resort the day before.

“The bloke who took her was in his early 30s with brown hair, he was 5ft. 8in. and in a light blue outfit. He checked her out the day before it happened.

“Once he grabbed her, he put her in a car round the corner and drove to a waiting boat. By the time the alarm was raised they were gone.

“The guy was an American, but he didn’t take her for himself. He was working for someone.”

Mr Warne is convinced that Maddie is alive and well, but knows nothing of her early life.

“I know she is at college in Minnesota. It is a reddish brown building with several storeys.I have never been there, but I can see it.”

Mr Warne hopes that police and investigators looking into Maddie’s disappearance will follow up his lead. He has worked with police forces over the years, helping to solve murders, and with the FBI in Atlanta, Georgia, in the hunt for a serial killer. An arrest was made within 10 days of Mr Warne’s advice to look for a black professional photographer.

Mr Warne added: “Imagine Maddie’s parents reading that she is dead, it must be terrible for them. That set me off. I know it is not true.”

Madeleine is at college? Do they call junior schools colleges in the US?

Strange how a much younger man called John Warne, the bass guitarist for a Christian rock group called Relient K, comes from Minneapolis which is, of course, in Minnesota.

Also strange that there was another John Warne, a "Reverend" (I have no idea of denomination) who also played bass guitar for a Christian rock group, who gave Church services for Madeleine back in the very early days.

However I am sure that this is all just co-incidence.

ETA My mistake, that last one was John Wearne. Easy mistake to make, seeing as they are both from Burnley. Again, I'm sure it's just coincidence.

Yes, I was also intrigued by the other 'Prayer Circle' Wearne (with an extra 'e') and also wondering ...
Especially as Warne lives in Burnley and Wearne's Prayer Circle is Accrington/Burnley based.
And especially as the founders of said Circle are described as 'two friends of the McCann family' in this article ...

Are all these John Warnes/Wearnes related?

This is ridiculous! College only refers to post-high school education here in the USA. We all know that the McCanns claim that Madeleine was extremely bright, reading by age two and all, but it is highly unlikely that she is attending college. I wonder how many educational buildings in Minnestoa fit this description (reddish brown building with several storeys)? Most elementary schools in the USA are only one story, two stories max, so it is highly unlikely that she would be attending a primary school with multiple stories.

Have the McCanns sent Edgar yet? Is Kate working really hard searching her computer for educational buildings that fit this description? If not, why not? This is the strongest lead that Madeleine is even possibly alive for a very long time.

An excellent way of coming up with new sightings. Get all the pro-McCann psychics to claim to know where Madeleine is. This could go on for years to come or indefinitely but, hey ho, it keeps Madeleine in the headlines.

Actually, it really is diabolical to roll out all these different Countries and sightings, whose had a hand in this one? Wasn't it LP who recently said they were going to investigate all the psychics........ if they interview them the way they interviewed the Tapas 7, the psychics will be sorry they spoke.

Hi Kitti, I'm getting quite bored now with the McCanns and SY surely have finished their review after 21 months.....with Joe Public who donated so much to the Fund and the taxpayer costing £3 billion , for the report not to be published is really quite disgraceful. Let's just hope a new date for the McCann/Amaral Trial is set , I think he will win and the case will be closed as a result and the SY Report will not matter.
