Tajahn Kahlil Clinton, age 34, Charged with Sex Trafficking of a Child
U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Sioux Falls man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for sex trafficking of a child.
Tajahn Kahlil Clinton, age 34, was indicted by a federal grand jury on February 7, 2012, for sex trafficking of a child. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge John E. Simko on February 9, 2012, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a mandatory minimum of 10 years up to a maximum of life in prison and up to a $250,000 fine. The charge is merely an accusation, and Clinton is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
The investigation is being conducted by the Department of Homeland Security Investigations, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Sioux Falls Police Department, Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office, and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Kevin Koliner and Jeffrey Clapper are prosecuting the case. Clinton was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal. A trial date has not yet been set.
