SWEET CHARITY
I can understand how some charities rely on money from the public to fund research into medical conditions or to re-house stray dogs and cats, but I am struggling to think how such a charity as this one for missing people spends its money? Do they employ private detectives? Do they have ex-coppers employed by them? Or is it just that they give missing people publicity. If its the latter, how much money would this require? And they give support to the families of missing people? Again, how much money does this require? They may be contacted by some of the missing people who wish to liase with their families, thereby acting as a go between. Again, how much does this cost? I may well be wrong, but I am thinking that what they do, albeit worthy, does not need a fortune.
You see, I am thinking that medical research costs thousands and therefore thousands are needed to be raised. I am thinking that stray cats and dogs need to be housed, treated by vets and fed and given there are thousands of strays, thousands of pounds are needed to help them. However, if its about publicity and support, although worthy, does the cost actually go into thousands? Does this require research? Do they have to supply accommodation, medical care or food? Do they carry out investigations like the NSPCC which requires the employment of social workers? Or is it just about appeals, taking reverse charge calls from missing people (who still do not wish to be found) and offering sympathy to the families.
There are so many charities now all screaming at us for money, but does pulling at our heart strings necessarily need to cost a fortune?

That would be too simple and efficient for the UK to consider.

Yes kitti, I have seen the Cartons, also the interstate liason is very good whereas there is only Interpol for Europe and the one the McCanns briefly
got involved in , can't think of the name.
Don't laugh.the Company No Stone Unturned is to produce CD's with instructions on how to search for your missing child, now we know why Kate is
involved in this Charity.

Hi cherry1.....give me an hour and I will try to think what expertise the McCanns have that can be recorded on the CD. Of course they do have experience with posters, getting everyone else to put them up and pay for the privilege.

OK step 1 in the search:
Spread the word round the local area and once the locals are definitely out there searching, phone all the friends and relations and let them know.

Re: SWEET CHARITY
Step four: Insult everybody who asks you what has happened and then, four years down the line when they're dead, insult them a little more in the book you'll write to boost the 'search'.

Very good points. Just because they are a Charity we assume they provide something - apart from advertising now, with these bill boards, what did they do in the past?
But perhaps we should ask them exactly what they do. Apart from organising functions as we heard about via Matthew Steeples which services are given free as donations and having meetings I can't see what they provide besides a telephone number. Maybe they give advice?
