Update - man claims to have found remains of Madeleine Mcann
About a month ago, John spoke to Stephen Birch, who claims that after a 15-month independent investigation that he has found the remains of British toddler Madeleine McCann.
Birch, a Cape Town businessman made international headlines with these claims, five years after McCann inexplicably disappeared while on holiday with her family in Portugal.
He told John that he travelled to London, met with his lawyer and hired a ground penetrating imaging device.
He then travelled to Portugal and from the scans he “illegally” took of the area believed to be the ground in which her remains are buried, he says there is proof that it is indeed true.
Birch joined John on the line from his Cape Town offices with an update.
He says that there is progress and that there is a major cover-up by both the British and Portuguese police.
He says that DNA evidence was planted in the vehicle hired 24 days after McCann's disappearance to frame her parents. He says that he has been liaising with investigators and investigative reporters in Lisbon and that together with them, he still believes that they have significant evidence to determine.
He says that he has a letter from the Portugese Prime Minister stating that they have checked the piece of land Birch claims Madeleine is buried under, however, he claims that even the Prime Minister is involved in the cover-up.

Does this character have an explanation as to where the P.J. actually got hold of this DNA evidence they 'planted'??
Even Gerald had to make a trip home to Rothley.

Re: Stephen Birch
Well now, after much trumpeting and a mysterious period of silence, Birch reveals his true colours.
The parents never dunnit - they wuz framed, guv.
Somebody stole Maddie's DNA (who, where, when and FFS how?) and those nasty coppers and even the Portuguese PM are all covering it up.
Will the papers pick this up?
Hmm, only one thing wrong with this latest statement.
The phone call.
Didn't you get the call, Stevie Boy?
You know, the one you should have got from you-know-who saying 'scrap your statement- the libel trial has been postponed until January' ???
Oh dear.
The art of great comedy is always in the timing.
Especially the wrong timing.

I do hope The Olive Press know about the trial cancellation.
Otherwise they'll be along next with a story about Maddie being spotted buying burgers in the Balearics ...

Hmm he hasn't given this very much thought has he?? If the both Police forces were doing a "Major Cover UP" why would they then 24days later plant DNA in the Mcs vehicle if they were trying to cover the McCanns backs
Wonder what the progress is that him and the investigators and investigative reporters in Lisbon are making on ths case

And wasn't the DNA sample so small and degraded that they could not even determine all markers? Surely if it was planted it would have been conclusive. I don't even think it would have been possible to plant such a small amount of DNA.
Surely this man should be sued for libel stating that evidence was planted. On what grounds does he base this conclusion? Surely not 30 years of detective work.

Thank you for the link. Under my Google user name Dandylion 1946, I have just made my views known to Stephen Birch, on his "You Tube" page.

Re: Stephen Birch
I'd like to point out that the YouTube poster with a similar user name to mine isn't me!
Pam deserves something for her devotion to the McCanns - I'm trying to think of something appropriate. She has it easy on sites like the McCanns' Facebook page and the censored Daily Mail online pages but, in the real world, she's more or less on her own.
I think that the McCanns must secretly be falling about laughing that there are some people gullible enough to believe all the nonsense they come out with.
Stephen Birch may be a wind-up merchant but I feel that parents of a genuinely missing child would want to explore any avenue which might bring them closure.
Off topic but I wonder what happened about the search that was going to take place at a building site near to where Ben Needham was last seen.

If Birch is a WUM ........is he winding up Gerald? Or Kate? Surely ANY parent of a missing child would be beside themselves at the mere thought that their precious child was lying in a drive!!!!!?????

Re: Stephen Birch
Yet the McCanns are completely dismissive of him - not the actions as I said of people who would welcome any opportunity to find out what happened to their child.
Personally I think Stephen Birch is an attention seeker and he has certainly achieved that. The statement on his LinkedIn site that he has solved the mystery is a joke!
Even if he was in PDL with a machine that can detect that something is buried underground, how on earth does he know that it was Madeleine? The Murats are dog owners, it could be the body of a dead pet.

Judicial discards backyard
The location where the South African researcher Stephen Birch says Madeleine McCann is buried - in the backyard of Robert Murat, a few hundred meters from the Ocean Club, where the English child disappeared in May 2007 - will not be targeted skill authorities.

Stephen Birch appeal was rejected by the Government
In a letter sent by the Office of the Prime Minister, Passos Coelho, in response to an appeal by Stephen Birch, the Judicial Police ensures that the zone was the target of a search "using a Large Penetration Radar on 4 and 5 August 2007, without any success, "as stated in the process. Stephen Birch, that between 16 and 27 June this year analyzed the same location with a geo - radar (see infographic) says that "the zone was not analyzed properly" because "was covered with vegetation and debris from construction materials" . "Someone is covering up anything. Believe the investigation was closed prematurely by diplomatic issues between Portugal and England," said Stephen Birch to CM
