Uncanny book?
Please excuse and delete this if it has been
discussed before, but is this the same Bridget
O'Donnell, writer and broadcaster, that was
present in PDL staying with her husband at
the Ocean Club in 07 ???
If it is, then this is uncanny, she has just
published a book and look see what the story
entails, rather interesting I would say....

Re: Uncanny book?
It says she is an ex TV director. Certainly sounds like her.
Strange coincidence. The book title is 'Inspector Minahan Makes a Stand (or the missing girls of England)'.
Claims to be a true story but with that title, the book's subject and her association with Madeleine's disappearance, it's all very peculiar.

Look what it say's here
Inspector Minahan Makes a Stand is the true story of a man caught between the British Establishment, his Limerick soul and his secret rebel heart. A very Victorian scandal, but also a story for our times.
Its uncanny change Limerick for Portuguese ?

Re: Uncanny book?
I think Bridget is the Partner/Wife of Jez, who spoke to Gerry outside 5a. Bridget was a bit in awe of the McCanns as I recall and was quite gushing about Kate.
I'm sure she will be mentioned in the mccannfiles because they were the couple one of the Tapas Men knocked on their door about 1am. They both made statements to the PJ.

Re: Uncanny book?
It seems to be based on the exploits of London madame Mary Jeffries. King Leopold II was one of her clients and frequented a brothel called Rose Cottage, right on the edge of Chiswick Common, quite near where I used to live. Mary Jeffries' speciality was child prostitution. Here's some more information.

A reminder of Bridget's article in December 2007 in The Guardian. Those with delicate stomachs beware!

This is the woman who admired the McCanns in a way for not being paranoid parents in leaving their children alone!

Mucho Gracias NBY.......see ........ I do have quite a good Memory, just don't know where to find anything.
"Gerry's daughter's been abducted," ......this was a remark Bridget made, why didn't she say "kidnapped"? or was she
merely using the word Oldfield used to explain why he was knocking their door at 1am.?

In this article she admits there was a babysitting service available ie someone in your apartment but in effect dismisses it as an option for parents as it was 'expensive.' Now her article was about the McCanns who are both doctors. I believe the rate was about £9 ph then. She also praises the nannies (who are also the babysitters if booked). She doesn't explain why that rate is beyond the reach of 2 working doctors (not unemployed ones) to have their children properly minded by a sitter they already know. She does not say that the Mccanns told her they tried to get the service but it was booked up. Indeed St Kate in her truthful book never mentions that a babysitting service provided by the nannies was even available. She makes a reference to not wanting her children minded by strangers implying that if she were to get an evening babysitter it would have been via a notice board and a local person probably speaking little English.
bridget's phrase 'paranoid parents' is indeed hilarious.

Re: Uncanny book?
One and only review of the book on Amazon,-
By Harpin - See all my reviewsThis review is from: Inspector Minahan Makes a Stand: The Missing Girls of England (Hardcover)
This reads like a novel but is all fact! Fascinating story that keeps you gripped till the end. Minahan is a complicated but intriguing Irishman who shows up the aristocracy. Its full of Dickens' like characters; brothel keepers, traffickers, dodgy journalists and dubious politicians. Fab!!!!
Whats all this remind you off?
