Re: A disgrace to human kind
'But at a time when police forces around the country are close to explosion from indignation over cuts in budgets and person power it is little short of astonishing that South Yorkshire police should think it is a priority to send a squad of officers to Greece in the hope of finding a lead in a case which has stayed obstinately cold for a generation'.
What a piece off shit he is....how dare he say that when over 3m has been spent on a certain pair off lying middle class doctors.
Us commoners or plebs aren't worth spending a penny on.

I am the person who runs the Help Find Ben campaign website, Facebook and Twitter on behalf of the Needham family. Mr Kettle, I would have thought you would have checked all your facts before making such statements. Firstly, the Needham family have had NO government help these past 20 years since Ben's disappearance, unlike other more recent cases. It wasn't until this last year after the campaign started that the government finally got involved. South Yorkshire Police, to my understanding, are receiving Government assistance in this case, including financial assistance, therefore this is ADDITIONAL funding for them to carry out this work. In addition, you will find that it was the Greek police who REQUESTED the help of South Yorkshire Police, as the Greek Police did not have the necessary speciality officers and equipment for what was needed to be done at the scene. At this time, what is needed is support for the Needham family who, all these years have not campaigned for money, for a special fund, or for sympathy in any way, but instead have worked hard on their own to try to find him, with no support until this campaign started, which, by the way, is also completely voluntary, and I am also unpaid for running the campaign. Kerry has remained very dignified throughout these years, and what is happening just now had to take place to finally rule out speculation once and for all as to whether Ben had an accident on the site that day, or whether, as we believe, he was indeed abducted. That is whats important. Thank you, Scott Morrison.

Re: A disgrace to human kind
There are some ignorant replies, the one about the Pakistani Government paying for the Hospital treatment of the 14 yr old girl shot in the head doesn't equate to searching for Ben. If Yorkshire Police had helped when Mrs Needham had asked all those years ago , thhere might have been closure then.

Re: A disgrace to human kind
Makes me sick that Kerry and her family have worked tirelessly to try and keep awareness of Ben in the public eye, have never started a "fund", have had little help at all and now some sad person thinks it's wasting money to look for him. Why oh why is nothing ever mentioned about the gruesome twosome's "fund" and how corrupt it is. I do pray that Kerry finally finds out what happened to Ben and as he was such a gorgeous little boy, that someone took him and nothing more awful happened to him.

The differences displayed between the two cases are remarkable. Leaving the fund aside, the dignified interviews, the very honest, heart breaking sadness displayed by Ben's mother and her behind the scenes continuous search for her son says it all for me. She has no time to court the media, she is truly very busy looking for her son.
Sometimes I wonder if I am being harsh on the McCanns, thinking about how I would react, commenting on how I consider they should react, thinking they know exactly where Madeleine is, partly because of the way they behave. I only have to think of Kerry Needham to know I am not being unfair in my opinion. When you look at her, you just know. Even the press articles which are without spin and bluff, are heart breaking at the best of times. The tone and content of the articles are just all so different to the McCann articles. The press can print the truth when not interfered with and make a reasonably good attempt at it.
Has the "Ambassador" made any comment and wished Kerry Needham well ? I have not seen anything. Amazing how they like to distance themselves from stories that might be a little too close for comfort. Dogs and digging, the McCanns worst nightmare.
I do not know what I wish for Kerry Needham. I cry when I hear her say she hopes Ben is not found there. Not that I can begin to imagine what she has gone through, but I think if it were me, closure at this stage would bring some relief. Mrs Needham says not, what true, unselfish love she has for her son.

Re: A disgrace to human kind
Let's not forget this.......when in belgium a women was 100% sure it was Madeleine she saw in a cafe that they took a specimen off DNA from the glass the child was drinking from and so excited about the prospect off there child could be Alive....where did the mccanns go......Germany .
Now THAT I can't get my head around.
Kerrys family are in Kos and I'm not sure where Kerry is, a secret location to keep the press away from her but nonetheless , they don't know if Ben is under that mound yet they are where the digging is.....Kerry says she doesn't want to see the digging which I can understand.

kitti, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Cameron expedited this search because of the way he has been so biased towards the McCanns and in a few weeks time he has to decide whether to put more money in the Madeleine review. I don't think he would dare so the McCanns either have to fund any search themselves or close the Fund , which I think they will do.
I hope in a way the digging unearths evidence that Ben was buried there, this will at least give closure to Mrs Needham .

Re: A disgrace to human kind
It was the Greek police who asked for help as they don't have the equipment to cope with this.
So the Greek police might be footing the bill, I don't know.

I couldn't get my head round that either. Even if they knew there was absolutely no chance of it being Madeleine, surely for appearances sake they would have gone to Belgium. Their absence spoke volumes. Any mother who thought there was a possibility that their missing child could be found wouldn't be able to get there quick enough. A live child, who needed her mummy. They obviously knew different

I doubt it kitti , the financial state Greece is in. If Cameron can spare £3 million to review the McCann case, he can spare a few hundred for this which won't take long with a joint venture.

Maybe the Greeks sent an "open letter" to Cameron, it just never got published in The Sun
I agree with you Panda, I think it likely Cameron offered to help, on the basis the Greeks made an official request for assistance. Dotting i's and crossing t's and all that.

Will it bring closure if Ben is found? It may raise more questions than answers. Especially if the grandfather believes that if he's found there, then he was put there by someone else.
