Nottingham couple Alan and Cindy Thompson 'to be quizzed' by Madeleine McCann case detectives
http://www.thisisnottingham.co.uk/Nottingham-couple-quizzed-Madeleine-case/story-17425672-detail/story.html
DETECTIVES investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann are set to interview a Nottingham couple who may have more information about the case, according to reports.
Alan and Cindy Thompson are due to be asked about ex-soldier Raymond Hewlitt, who is thought to have been staying 30 miles away from Praia da Luz, Portugal, when Madeleine disappeared in May 2007.

According to a national newspaper, Scotland Yard detectives want to speak to the couple, who Mr Hewlitt befriended during a holiday and who allegedly claimed that gypsies had approached him, asking to buy his children.
Mr Hewlitt, who died of throat cancer in 2010, told the couple that he refused to sell one of his six children to "gypsy tourists".
The Nottingham couple only discovered Hewlitt's criminal background – he was imprisoned three times for attacks on young girls – when they returned from holiday.
Officers from Scotland Yard are said to be investigating the movements of Mr Hewlitt in Portugal in May 2007, when Madeleine was on holiday with her parents, Gerry and Kate McCann, of Rothley, Leicestershire.
Scotland Yard declined to comment.

Re: Nottingham couple Alan and Cindy Thompson 'to be quizzed' by Madeleine McCann case detectives
JD16 gave me this info:
Alan and Cindy Thompson were the ones who 'found' Bin Ladens hideaway lair in Pakistan back in 1999. They were driving and just happened to stumble across it. The were invited by US and UK ambassadors/diplomats etc for dinner afterwards......So they have found the most wanted man in the world and they have found the most wanted child abductor in the world....what are the chances of this being true!! Like charlotte pennignton, they just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time! Fancy that!!
This is an interesting article from the Independent from May 2009. Worth reading

"The Independent understands that the Briton, described by detectives as "cunning" and a "danger to children" was questioned during the initial inquiry but discounted after providing an alibi.".....This statement is apparently missing from the PJ Files

In the spring of 1999, A British couple called Alan and Cindy Thompson were driving through Pakistan, in the very area that they're now talking about as being bin Laden's location. After driving for 11 hours on dirt roads they came to a checkpoint and were detained by armed Pakistani guards.
The next day the Dawn newspaper, one of the biggest newspapers in Pakistan, reported that this couple had found the secret lair of Osama bin Laden.
More interesting is that they reported that this location had been visited by US consulate officers, British, Australian, and Swiss ambassadors, and that it was guarded by a team of US commandoes.
After the couple were picked up by the British embassy they were invited to a garden party where all the British ambassadors and aid workers were bragging that they were stationed in the same area as bin Laden's secret hideout.
After the couple got back home to England they saw a newspaper article calling for the capture of bin Laden. This was a few months before Clinton signed an executive order mandating bin Laden to be killed on sight.
The couple immediately contacted Scotland Yard in London; they contacted the FBI and the Pentagon and in every case got nothing. No response, no request for an interview. Nothing.
Let us recap. We have British ambassadors visiting Osama bin Laden, whose location is guarded by elite US commandoes, and when the couple that witnessed all this try to report it, they are blackballed.

I can see what is going to happen here. The raymond hewlett episode is first unleashed onto an unsuspecting public in May 2009. Then May 2010 the SY review. Sept 2012 SY imply the review will stop soon. Nov 2012 raymond hewlett episode is again released into the public, soon to be the story closed with a dead man the one did it but any investigations cannot go further as he is dead...close book. The end. unquote
Much of interest here! I can believe a few impossible things before breakfast but not that many!

Re: Nottingham couple Alan and Cindy Thompson 'to be quizzed' by Madeleine McCann case detectives
I was told by a detective on the case that (apart from Andy Redwood interviews) they are keeping "under the radar" and therefore highly unlikely to release details, particularly (and cooincidently) about a couple that stand to 'gain' from the publicity.
Re: Nottingham couple Alan and Cindy Thompson 'to be quizzed' by Madeleine McCann case detectives
I doubt that this extraordinary couple even exist. I haven't been able to find a photo of them (not that that would prove much, thinking of some of those the McCanns have issued) or anything independent like telephone and electoral records.
Can anyone else find something to substantiate their existence?

Thanks for that Almostgothic. I have now found another photo in this Mirror story.

If anyone here recognises this couple, please shout!
With their track record, they can solve all the world's mysteries.
Somehow though I think that it will be easier to track down Lord Lucan and Shergar than it will be to find the Thompsons.

http://jillhavern.forumotion.net/t6028-did-paedophile-raymond-hewlett-really-know-what-happened-to-madeleine-mccann
There is perhaps good reason for being more than a tad sceptical about the Thompsons’ claims. For ten years previously, in the spring of 1999, as the media reported: “A British couple called Alan and Cindy Thompson were driving through Pakistan, in the very area that they're now talking about as being bin Laden's location. After driving for 11 hours on dirt roads they came to a checkpoint and were detained by armed Pakistani guards. The next day the Dawn newspaper, one of the biggest newspapers in Pakistan, reported that this couple had found the secret lair of Osama bin Laden”.
By late May 2009, the McCann Team, along with the general public, had had access to most of the Portuguese Police files for several months, and would have seen the references in those files to Hewlett. But according to the McCann Team it was the Thompsons who led them to Hewlett.

Why the Mirror is chasing up this rubbish is beyond me, are they being paid for this, promised the serialisaition rights of Kate's book perhaps???
I vaguely remember the couple who met Hewitt were staying in a Camp Site at the same time as he was., I don't believe as mentioned on the jillhavern post that the McCanns had access to the PG files , but once again wonder why this is all being rehashed now!!

I'm amazed that the FBI haven't snapped up this couple to work alongside Martin Grime - what a team they'd make.
But until they get the call, they could solve a mystery chez moi by detecting the whereabouts of Mr Almostgothic's many missing odd socks.
Last seen hanging around anywhere but the designated drawer or laundry basket, it is thought that they formed themselves into a disgruntled hosiery terrorist group - some of which are deemed responsible for The Great Washing Machine Explosion of 2008.

Re: Nottingham couple Alan and Cindy Thompson 'to be quizzed' by Madeleine McCann case detectives
I don't think that Martin Grime would want to be associated with these two!
I'm trying to work out the story of the 1999 discovery of Bin Laden's lair. This was of course two years before 9/11 - would anybody on this side of the Atlantic have even heard of him then to know that the Americans were supposedly after him?
If this couple actually exists - and there's nothing yet to prove that - I think that they are attention-seekers.

Its the taste sorry Panda
If the couple have made a statement in regards to Madeleine then SY should reinterview them with their review...as indeed they should reinterview the tapas when they have ruled out all the BS

I thought that was Bin Laden as well? Although to be fair to the couple, the lecture with pictures by either Rumsfelt or Cheney on the hidden lair of Bin Laden in the mountains was beyond a joke. Caves with swimming pools and lifts and goodness knows what. Their story is boring in comparison.
All they ever found were a couple of goats who'd taken refuge from the constant bombardment. There never was a complex of caves in Bora Bora. But it's a great story for the press.
Good luck with those socks, my feeling is you'll get some of them back but no pairs.

A story ANY story or sighting for that matter always seems to surface before a court case or "cheshire cat grinning" appearance.
Nothing surprises me anymore, in fact Lord and Lady McCann relishing in their own manipulations is what angers me the most.
I still believe the clock is ticking for the desperate duo.

Re: Nottingham couple Alan and Cindy Thompson 'to be quizzed' by Madeleine McCann case detectives
This article is extremely misleading. For instance what does "Mr Hewlitt, who died of throat cancer in 2010, told the couple that he refused to sell one of his six children to "gypsy tourists" have to do with Madeleine going missing? There is no link whatsoever. If someone had offered to buy one of my children and I refused, would that make me a suspect as well? The idea that the offer to purchase one of Hewletts's own children would lead him to abduct another child to sell is beyond ridiculous.
Further the statement "The Nottingham couple only discovered Hewlitt's criminal background – he was imprisoned three times for attacks on young girls – when they returned from holiday" is also misleading. I believe that these "young girls" were all teenagers, but the article implies that the girls are Madeleine's age. Paedophiles don't usually change their MO from teenage girls to toddlers overnight, so I can't see any connection here either as the article would imply.

Let's not forget....there are still people out there believing this story in the mirror, I don't blame them at all, that could be me or you from 5 years ago.
All the time these papers still have a Market they will print something like this.
Knowledge is a powerful thing and HideHo's audience is growing ...by the day.
The Mccanns should be worrying about this , after all, if i had a BIG secret and it was slowly slipping out and which i had NO control over despite all the money been thrown at it, I don't think I would off survived as long as them without all the help from all those people in high places ..but it won't last forever.
And I don't think they have separated , not in the sense off Gerry McCann leaving the marital home anyway, I remember what happened when Kate McCann was left alone before ....she may off been weaker then back in 2007 but I still think she is a loose cannon.
