Free Speech
I have just been banned from the Jill Havern forum forum for questioning the Rothley leaflet drop and the letter to the GMC Fitness to Practice board.
How does this gel with the freedom of speech that Tony Bennett is going to try and defend in court next month?

ShabbyTiger, I've deleted the duplicate copy of this thread.
Re: Free Speech
As a member of the Jill Havern forum, I'd like to state that Shabby Tiger has been winding everyone up by repeating like a stuck record that Tony Bennett is bringing no favours to the forum.
I really do wonder why the pros take any notice of him - surely they aren't worried that there may be some truth in what he says?

Re: Free Speech
from what I can see shabby tiger was not banned from the forum for giving his or her views, but for constantly repeating attacks against Tony accusing him of having personal vendetta against the mccanns. Mods had warned shabby tiger that they had all heard these views and no need to constantly repeat them and it seems shabby tiger failed to heed the warning from mods.

To be honest, I don't give a fig, I have rarely seen anything authored by you here and I don't frequent that forum.
Surely this thread is ripe for deletion.

Well said cass.
I agree with all you say. I would just like to add that it is to be admired that Mr Tony Bennett is one of the few people involved in all this ..that is willing to stand up and put his real name and address for all to see....not say his piece and hide behind a made up name. How many of us would be that brave I wonder.

Re: Free Speech
Not many, me neither. Got too many death threats and other "warnings". Tony Bennett fights for justice and free speech. Not all like his ways or ideas, neither do we have to, but we should not forget, he is fighting for our freedom to speak too. He is one of very few daring to do that, and he deserves support.Krisy22 wrote:cass wrote:people on forums wanting the same justice for madeleine having fall outs --not good --- tony has been treated badly he has had his life turned upside down trying to get the message across that not all the mcanns say is true --just like us all here -- he has enough bad things said about him by the pros -- were all wanting the same arnt we ?

Re: Free Speech
Free speech is indeed a Right, in civilised society.
But Rights are bestowed on the understanding of counterbalancing Responsibility.
ie By all means have your say, but have respect for the Rights (and Responsibilities) of others.
Just because you can do something (In this case, present your point of view), does not mean you can continue to do so without there being societal structures in place to regulate excess. wrongdoing etc.
People who exercise their Right of Free Speech by effectively shouting others down are not only failing to exercise Responsibility (Or, indeed, Maturity) but are at the same time depriving their Audience of those same Rights.
ie If you want to Play The Game, then Play Nicely.
"And I am unanimous in that" (Said by Mrs. Slocombe, as older (or sadder!) Members will recall.

Re: Free Speech
Fair enough comment on this thread, and thanks for that. However, as Tony's interpretation of the PJ files is based on translations that have not been supplied by an accredited professional translation bureau, then he is immediately on a sticky wicket in court next month.

Re: Free Speech
I'd agree his position is not without weakness, but in presenting his side of the story there are opportunities for views other than those promulgated by Healy & McCann to be aired - and reported upon.
That might make some of the hook, line & sinker brigade sit up and take notice.
Mind you, Healy & McCann have other reasonably pressing matters to attend to, not least of which is Goncalo Amaral's damages.
The tide is ebbing.

Fair play in what you sed TEIN but the the simple fact that professionally accredited translations have not been used by Tony will be the death nell, sorry to be so blunt but thats the way it is. If he can't produce evidence of professinally translited files then he's had it.

Re: Free Speech
I wouldnt worry your head about Tony, or his family which seems to concern you, Tony is
nobody's fool, as a number of corrupt Essex police officers have found out to their cost in the
Lee Balkwell case.

cherry1, "facts" taken from non-professionally accredited translations will be hammered in court. Where did Tony get his translations from, if I may ask?

Re: Free Speech
We've read and understood your point, Shabby Tiger. Several times.
Has your experience on the other Forum (Tales of which lies at the root of this very Thread) not had any effect?
And as far as TB is concerned, his case doesn't rely upon pre-judgement here.

Re: Free Speech
Shabby tiger - You seem consumed with anxiety about Tony and his family, perhaps you are in need of a holiday -
perhaps somewhere like China may be a good place so you can get away from it all.
You have given your views about this which we have all seen.

Re: Free Speech
It seems a particularly pointless line of questioning as how would anyone other than Tony be able to say who supplied the translations?

Re: Free Speech
Fair play to all who have aired their opinions here. I am just pointing out that I question the professionalism of the translations that have been used.... and I think that the courts may do the same. Unless TB can prove that he has used an accredited translation bureau to support his case, then he is sunk. JMO.

An odd point to pick up on. Almost like you're scratching around there for some way in which Tony must be going wrong. Why not just leave it and know that it's Tony's business and nothing to get yourself concerned with.
Re: Free Speech
Its pointless asking these questions here when Tony Bennett is not a member here, and so can't reply. You'd be better off asking on Jilll's, or Twitter.
