Madeleine McCann Parents Want Jail for Ex-Solicitors 'Slur'

Thanks Iris for posting the link. While the Star doesn't mention it, I think the most important thing that has come out so far is that the McCann's lawyer said, under oath, that she didn't know whether or not Madeleine was abducted.

MADELEINE McCann’s parents yesterday asked a judge to jail a retired solicitor who has repeatedly accused them of covering up her death.

Doctors Kate and Gerry McCann, both 44, claim Tony Bennett, 65, is in contempt of court for breaching promises that he would not repeat the allegations.

After a number of attempts to stop the harassment their solicitor Isabel Martorell told Mr Justice Tugendhat at the High Court in London: “Enough is enough.’’

She said the case, which was due to start last month, had been adjourned while talks on a settlement between the two sides were on-going.

The lawyer said they had taken action against some other people but the couple “try as far as possible to turn the other cheek”.

Mr Bennett told the judge the McCanns were powerless to stop others making the same allegations as him.

Then-three-year-old Madeleine vanished from the couple’s Portuguese holiday apartment in 2007.

This is actually a positive article as the only adjective they used to describe Tony Bennett was 'retired' and it is quite respectable to be called retired!

Especially considering Tony's previous campaigns.

The McCanns were not in court on Tuesday - but the Star does not mention that. The picture with the article is an old picture of the McCanns surrounded by the press taken in Lisbon some time ago.

Yes! But for once they've not published a weeping hearts photo, they're not looking their best!
Neither has the paper published the iconic photo which seems to have become a tradition - small cracks but at least several papers have published something.

I have learnt a lot about the press since i started on this quest for justice for Madeleine, never even heard off spin doctors till this case.


What I have learnt is the papers only print what is newsworthy and what news can best generate the most money and that Includes printing lies..printing news that is obviously false which started out not being so hence 'spin doctors'.


The piece in the star has been 'spun', the picture is to make it look like the Mccanns were actually at the court as they are so distressed by what Tony has done when in fact there not there at all but people will have the illusion they were.


The new Zealand sighting has been discounted but has been rolled out to make it look like they are so convinced it could be Madeleine that they have taken DNA from a child which has been 'discounted' and proved not to be her yet it has been spun to look like the DNA WAS taken and it will take WEEKS to see the results....in these weeks this will be buried no doubt or until another. 'sighting' is yet again rolled out to the public...this news would died a natural death if hadn't been tony's trial being talked about vigerously and discussed all over the Internet...the Mccanns are so predictable now that it's getting ridiculous as it is WE that are pre-emting what the Mccanns will do next , not the other way round .

It's not even 'disappeared,' now, but 'vanished.' A few people might actually ask "So, she just vanished, did she?"

which sounds quite respectful imo.

In other words, the press is getting neutral, hopefully before going into reverse!

Indeed, not as bad as "vile troll" which would have been the norm before!

I note their friend Adam is not acting for them and seems as though they abandoned the idea of a QC.
