Tory MPs want to rename a day after Margaret Thatcher

Tory MPs have tabled a series of Bills that would, among other things, ban the burka, privatise the BBC, bring back the death penalty, take the UK out of the European Union, rename a day after Margaret Thatcher and abolish Nick Clegg.
The list of 40 Private Members Bills published on Friday (full list below), dubbed an 'Alternative Queen's Speech', is a wish list of the Conservative right and the four MPs behind it have been nicknamed the "Tory Taliban".
As The Daily Telegraph reported yesterday, Peter Bone, Christopher Chope, Philip Hollobone and David Nuttall camped out in the parliamentary bill office for four nights in order to secure the right to introduce the pieces of legislation.
The Bills are highly unlikely to ever make it into law but the MPs will be given the chance to promote them in the Commons over the next year.
The Margaret Thatcher Day Bill would rename the annual Bank Holiday Monday in late August after the former Tory prime minister.
The Capital Punishment Bill would bring back the death penalty for certain offences and the Face Coverings (Prohibition) Bill would ban the burka.
The BBC Licence Fee (Civil Debt) Bill would decriminalise the non-payment of the BBC licence fee while the BBC Privatisation Bill would privatisatise the broadcaster by providing shares in the Corporation to all licence fee payers.
The four Tories are no fans of the coalition, the Lib Dems, or Nick Clegg - and the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (Abolition) Bill would get rid of the office of the deputy prime minister and allocate its responsibilities to other departments.
Peter Bone, who has frequently worried about whether Clegg would take over the government should David Cameron be assassinated, has tabled the Prime Minister (Replacement) Bill that would formalise the process of who would seize power.
Anti-European Union policies make several appearances, including the Benefit Entitlement (Restriction) Bill which would cut the number of welfare payments immigrants could receive and the Romanian and Bulgarian Accession (Labour Restriction) Bill which would stop the lifting of migration restrictions imposed on people from those two nations.
The United Kingdom (Withdrawal from the European Union) Bill goes a bit further and would force the UK to leave the EU.
Other Bills include calls for a referendum on gay marriage, the abolition of the ring-fenced foreign aid budget and the scrapping of the Department of Energy and Climate Change.
The Smoking (Private Members’ Clubs) Bill would allow people to smoke in a private members’ club if a majority of the members of the club so decide.
And the Sexual Impropriety in Employment Bill would limit sexual harassment claims being brought in a workplace unless the alleged misconduct broke the law and had been reported to the police.
