Silence
Why is there no news today when the trial is supposed to be resuming. Is this what you call selective reporting. Plenty of publicity last week and now nothing in any paper or news channel as far as I can see. What a really strange way of reporting. Is the trial cancelled or postponed or going ahead.

Re: Silence
Hi MaryB, according to posts there is supposed to be a Trial today but maybe it hasn't started yet or the press will be waiting until they find out what happened.MaryB wrote:Why is there no news today when the trial is supposed to be resuming. This no news after last week is a bit strange I think. But maybe there is nothing to report. But when has that ever stopped somebody reporting.

Re: Silence
Yes, its strange.
I wish, if the trial is going ahead, but in private, we could at least be told.
The same if its been cancelled again.

Re: Silence
So glad to find this thread. I have been Googling the case and looking on other decent sites but nada. It is deffo today and tomorrow with GA's witnesses being interviewed ... unless the judge is still not able to come and preside. I don't think she was ill...It was said to be some 'personal' problem... like maybe the sudden illness oF a family member? Who knows?

Re: Silence
Are there more McCann witnesses still to come (before the defence)?
IIRC, Healy, Wright and Cameron haven't been heard yet?
Duarte was pushing for them to send letters to the judge instead of having to fly over again - although how that's going to work is beyond my comprehension.
They could hardly stick a letter in a witness box and tell the defence lawyers to cross-examine it ...

Re: Silence
Perhaps the judge is saying to McCann witnesses:
"I am not having any more lies this afternoon."
"You are developing a habit, witness 1,2,3,4,5,,,,,,, , of changing your evidence after the event."
And also telling those present that the hearing is a "grossly unedifying occasion which can only damage the standing and the reputation of the Court"

I can see it now, the judge dismissed the case as the prosecution lawyer torn the witeness to shreds thealmostgothic wrote:Are there more McCann witnesses still to come (before the defence)?

Re: Silence
Isobel Duarte is herself in the doghouse for not returning the Books until a Judge instructed her , will she say the McCanns made that decision? Also , the glaring error saying first of all that the claim was for 5 people suggests she is not that confident. Why did the Mccanns choose her and not Abreu who was familiar with the case.almostgothic wrote:Are there more McCann witnesses still to come (before the defence)?

Re: Silence
She will certainly have been in the dog house with the McCanns by only referring to 'the abduction' as "the McCann couple's THESIS"Panda wrote:Isobel Duarte is herself in the doghouse for not returning the Books until a Judge instructed her , will she say the McCanns made that decision? She, ID, is not as stupid as the McCann lawyer IM (CR) who said 'Madeleine had been abducted' in a court room, on oath, but had to withdraw that statement immediately when she was asked if she had proof of that!
Her 'proof' was "THE MCCANNS TOLD ME THAT"!
DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Re: Silence
Hi jeanmonroe, sometimes I wonder if it is a lost in translation thing that the Portugese come across as more like village Bobbies than Sy (although they are not looking too bright these days:haha: ) I certainly have enormous sympathy for them for being dragged into this fiasco, it has not only cost them E millions at a time when they can least afford it and the McCanns have treated their efforts with contempt. On reflection , I think when the Prosecutor asked the Judge if there was enough evidence to go to Court he was told "show me the body". 4 yrs down the line, still no body., they should have gone to Trial then.jeanmonroe wrote:She will certainly have been in the dog house with the McCanns by only referring to 'the abduction' as "the McCann couple's THESIS"Panda wrote:Isobel Duarte is herself in the doghouse for not returning the Books until a Judge instructed her , will she say the McCanns made that decision? Re: Silence
It is indeed. Somebody must know what's going on. It can't be good news or else it would be reported. I wonder what the chances are of case withdrawn.

Re: Silence
Not even sure what we should mean by 'good news'... I guess bad news would be 'trial abandoned for reasons unknown'.

Not because her daughter had been 'abducted' then...
As I said, it's not the PJ's fault the dogs detected a dead body ..
