Wasn't it Mr Smith who said he thought it was Gerry due to the way he carried the child down the steps of the plane when they returned to the UK? I can't see any mention of this. Was it ever reported on by the media?

Yes it was and he said he was 60 to 80 per cent sure it was GM. That statement was made to his local police and I don't recall it ever being printed in the press.

Okay, time to be honest with people all you press folk out there  The truth is that this case has gone full circle now.  The truth is that the PJ, under the co-ordination of Mr Amaral, knew about the witnesses, namely The Smith family.   The truth is it became one great big roasting hot potato for the PJ because Mr Martin Smith is also on record as saying the person he saw carrying a child looked very much like Madeleine's father Mr Gerry McCann.  The truth is that, together with other factors which pointed to the parents' involvement somehow, the witnesses Smith were not interviewed by the PJ finally because their request to formally interview this family was overridden by another decision from above to remove Mr Amaral from the case and shift him to other police work, which then led to Mr Amaral's decision to retire from the PJ for good.  

Please be honest with your readers and please stop insisting that these witnesses were overlooked by a bungling Portuguese police force.

I wonder if they will mention on the programme that Martin Smith thought it was Gerry? Probably not....

Actually , the Smiths WERE interviewed by the Irish Guardia at the request of the Portugese Police. This was their second interview which Mrs Smith declined to make. I read that Kennedy had also visited them in Ireland. I think they made the first statement while they were in Portugal , a couple of days after Madeleine disappeared .

I think the e-fits are from the descriptions given by both of the Smiths. I bet the one with the pointy chin was Martin's.

If memory serves me right, the Smiths passed Gerry in the same street....it was an unidentified couple carrying something who turned into a lane when the Driver caught them in his Headlights. He was returning from Lagos where he had a Business , he also had a Business in PDL .

I am surprised in that event the expert E fit persons didnt produce an amalgam of the two and get a consensus.

Seems a bit confusing to produce an E fit of the same man,one with a fat face and one with a thin face but what do i know ?

They both have a flat head though.

Is this the Deborah Butler who was a Member of Tony Bennett's Forum....if so. I wouldn't trust her comment. I am sjure that the Smith's walked past
the guy they thought could be Gerry. The Couple who turned into the lane happened in the early hours of the morning.

I just posted on another thread that I think Cameron has no alternative if he wants to be re-elected. The :Press and Public will say enough is enough and Theresa May who is interested in becoming the Next PM who only wanted a scope will openly challenge Cameron for overriding her position as
Minister for the Home Office if he doesn't agree to close the case. Redwood saying they are only 1/4 the way through sends shivers down the spine .

Embargo eh? I did hear the guy (Ian Woods) on Sky news saying there is more to come on Crimewatch which we can't discuss at this point!!
