Thanks Annabel, I picked out one snippet but didn't realise it was such a long Article, so will have to go back and pick out a couple more later on.
"Kate and Gerry McCann: now officially not suspects, say the Portuguese authoritiesKate and Gerry McCann: now officially not suspects, say the Portuguese authorities (Adrian Sheratt) Oakley’s six-month investigation included placing undercover agents inside the Ocean Club where the family stayed, lie detector tests, covert surveillance and a forensic re-examination of all existing evidence" Can you believe all this nonsense Oakley was supposed to have done ??I think Oakley was resident in the U.S. at the time .!!!!

Re: Thelostmarketingploy
Oakley International would have arranged for people to go in and do these things ujnder cover, doesn't mean that Exxton did it all himself. he had people reporting back to him. love to know about the lie detector tests though, who did them, on who? wonder if that was in the suppressed report too. just wondering

tanzi Oakley International was owned by Halligen a Fraudster who was wanted in the US for fraud , he was a Walter Mitty character fled to the U.K. lived in a Hotel for a few weeks , was picked up by the Police and languished in a U.K. Jail for almost 2 years before he was exradited to the U.S..
He claimed to use all kinds of gear , including Satellite searching and was the Company who was "paid " £300,000 by the Fund via Brian Kennedy.

Re: Thelostmarketingploy
I know all that panda, I was responding to your query about how Oakley could have done all that whilst he was in the US. he woujld have had people "on the ground" so to speak following a brief on what to find out, and how to find it out and then report back to him. that's usual, im not saying he didn't do anything he woujld have done a lot, but would also had people working with and for him.

Re: Thelostmarketingploy
They didn't do all that though tanzi , that was why he was a fraud, A reporter questioned Clarence about the £300,000 the Fund paid and Clarence said the matter is closed. The money was probably laundered and that is why the Fund didn't sue him.I suspect he was another of Kennedy's "finds" Halligen was wanted in the US for fraud $1.4 million . wjk reckons he is in Ireland , his birthday now . I think he had a property in the USA worth $2 million,it was a S A Firm that was suing Oakhill which must have been registered in America so if they did a deal, the Americans wouldn't want him there so he went back to Ireland.tanszi wrote:I know all that panda, I was responding to your query about how Oakley could have done all that whilst he was in the US. he woujld have had people "on the ground" so to speak following a brief on what to find out, and how to find it out and then report back to him. that's usual, im not saying he didn't do anything he woujld have done a lot, but would also had people working with and for him.

Re: Thelostmarketingploy
Panda I think there is a little confusion and we re talking at cross purposes. This is my understanding. Halligen took the money but didn't pay H Exxton. He was an ex M15 employee who worked for Oakley International and was not paid by Halligen . He did undertake various actions and presented a report to the McCs and this was seen by investigative reporters at the Sunday Times. So whilst Halligen is a fraudster, there is nothing anywhere to suggest that Exxton is. Obviously I haven't seen the report so I don't know what the investigation entailed or how long it went on for, but something was done and a report made on it and given to the McCs. so whether Halligen paid the money over or not, the McCs received a report from Exxton of Oakley International which they in turn suppressed.

Re: Thelostmarketingploy
Tanszi, that's my understanding too.
Panda, a far as I know it was Gerry who decided to dispense with their services because they were not good value for money (or now it seems perhaps got close to the truth).
I think the question of fraud arose in so far as when Halligan ended up the headlines, the implication was they had paid a fraudster, so were they going to chase him for the money to be paid. Now Gerry could hardly say, oh no, it's ok, he did a report for us, we got what we paid for, because he did not want to advertise the report. Neither could he take legal action for a refund, obviously, work had been completed (it now seems). Hence Mr Pink and his the matter is closed comment, IMO.

Re: Thelostmarketingploy
I don't know kitti, The report by H Exxton was the one suppressed by the McCs so its not likely to be made public. I think that the Sunday Times did a great job letting the public know what it did, I expect there have been a few letters from lawyers and such so not sure the wider public, us, will get to hear any more about it.
