Madeleine McCann: Portuguese police in Algarve 'no help to hunt'
Madeleine McCann: Portuguese police in Algarve 'no help to hunt'

A friend of Kate and Gerry McCann said: “The Policia Judiciara are not pulling their weight and are almost working against the Met"
Missing: Madeleine Missing: Madeleine

Portuguese police hunting for Madeleine McCann’s kidnapper are not “pulling their weight,” a source close her parents said yesterday.
Fears that tension between the country’s Policia Judiciara and Scotland Yard is mounting comes as Britain’s top cop called on the two forces to unite in a joint investigation.
The Met Police’s Bernard Hogan-Howe’s plea is “a polite but public expression of frustration", Kate and Gerry McCann’s close pal believes.
The source added: “They can’t see this ever happening else it would have happened six and a half years ago!
“It seems the PJ are not pulling their weight and are almost working against the Met!
“If Mr Hogan-Howe is at pains to stress that both investigations should run jointly, and not in parallel, it shows his frustration that the present system to find Madeleine and whoever took her is not working.”
The source added: “There are two separate agendas here. The Met recently showed on Crimewatch images of a white suspect they are looking for.
“Just two or three days later the PJ say they are hunting for a black tractor driver! It is completely contradictory to what the Met are saying!
“It seems obvious to us that the PJ are back to their old game, which is not helping the search for Madeleine.”
Heart specialist Gerry and former GP wife Kate, both 45, of Rothley, Leics, declined to comment while the police inquiry is ingoing.
Their spokesperson Clarence Mitchell said: “How the investigations are run is entirely a matter for both police forces to agree themselves.”
Maddie was aged nearly four when she vanished from a holiday apartment in Portugal’s Praia da Luz in May 2007.

A close pal indeed - they just can't pass up an opportunity to spin against the Portuguese police... or did Mitchell get the nod from higher up the line? Perhaps the Portuguese are getting too close to something embarassing ...

Re: Madeleine McCann: Portuguese police in Algarve 'no help to hunt'
I would love to know who these "sources " are, we can guess.
Obviously the McCanns are worried about just what OPORTO found which prompted the reopening of the case and quite rightly choose not to keep SY informed The Crimewatch proved a fiasco and Redwoods fluctuating number of "persons of interest" dead in the water. There will come a time when the OPORTO findings will be submitted to the PJ and although no charge can be made against the McCanns their Report will hopefully be published.

I do think OPORTO should have finished their investigation by now and the sooner it is published, the sooner all this nonsense will stop. The U.K. Press have no shame , they don't even try to name their source.

Auntie Phil has to keep a low profile right now. People might start pointing fingers at her quicksand-loving, Photoshopping, snuff picture artist spouse.

Too right, Iris.
When one thinks of the type of people that surrounded MM in her short life, it makes one's flesh crawl ...
As for this article, no surprise that it's in the McCanns' current organ-of-choice.
And no surprise that it comes straight after the announcement that UK and Portugal are working towards a joint investigation.
Heart specialist Gerry and former GP wife Kate, both 45, of Rothley, Leics, declined to comment while the police inquiry is ingoing.
Sure, they decline to comment in their names, cowards that they are. But once again they've made damn sure that they get heard through their paid spokespoodle. When you've got enough of other people's money to buy a dog, you can afford to not bark yourself. And by not barking you distance yourself from all those negative remarks. What a shame that nobody's fooled by this cynical ploy!
But even Clarrie (especially these days) has to put some distance between himself and the less complementary quotes.
It's a tactic often used in this case and it works thus:
1) Nameless Friend/Nameless Source gets to make the nasty, scathing remarks about the PJ.
2) Then right at the end, Mitchell allows his own name to be used for the anodyne, 'calm down dear, it's only a police investigation' quote.
Deliberate, cynical, pathetic.
But there are two things here that put a smile on my weary face:
1) Every time CM aligns himself in print with the McCanns, either by name or as a 'source', a few hundred more of his potential votes get flushed down the pan in Brighton Pavilion.
2) This article proves beyond any doubt that the joint investigation announcement was a powerful laxative for the McCanns. And so purgative that the hired help had to scurry off immediately and force-feed his acrid poison via the subservient Mirror.

Re: Madeleine McCann: Portuguese police in Algarve 'no help to hunt'
I agree, I think they are terrified of a joint investigation, just in case the two forces do co-operate and SY may start to look at other aspects of this case with new eyes.almostgothic wrote:Too right, Iris.

Re: Madeleine McCann: Portuguese police in Algarve 'no help to hunt'
I don't know if anyone could actually steel themselves to watch the Crime Watch show last night, in case those two were on. As it happens I caught a few seconds of the Tortoise speaking. There was no new evidence, no big revelation, no on-screen arrests, nothing. As expected. But what overwhelmingly stuck me was that everything he said was in the past tense - helped", "provided" and so on. He knows. ST aren't looking for anybody or anything else.

Re: Madeleine McCann: Portuguese police in Algarve 'no help to hunt'
I dipped in and out of the show. They reprised the woefully hammy clip of a raddled KM doing her 'whooshed curtains' act (always has me creased up, that one). Other victims of crime were live on air and achingly genuine. Curiously, The Gruesomes were not live - instead there was a brief interview filmed at the German CW.
A stark contrast - it was almost showbizzy in a TV awards kind of way with KM thanking the public for their support (equating the number of calls received by CW with the amount of support for the McCanns is all too typical of KM's pretzel logic, but it's probably best that she's left with her delusions - for now).
On to Mr Redwood's brief slot at the end - his face was stripped of any avuncularity. He looked grimly determined.
As Iris has noted, all past tense. No new appeal. It gave the impression that he already has what he needs.
And the real investigation starts now. JMO.

I saw this tweet from Mark Williams-Thomas earlier and it made me think. Could it be referring to the case maybe? Probably not but nice to think it could be

Re: Madeleine McCann: Portuguese police in Algarve 'no help to hunt'
When you analyse it, that tweet is pointless.
It's not as if he's giving any particular interest group a 'heads-up', because it's all so vague.
What it amounts to is that he's been given a whisper about some embargoed news story and he wants everyone to see that he heard it first.
If you ran his tweet through Google Translate (Gibberish to English), it would probably come out as:
I know something you don't know - ner ner ner ner ner!

What the heck can be so shocking now about Operation Yewtree?
Another 'famous' person brought in?
Cops not fully investigating someone?
We've heard it all before!!
