Eighteen oil and gas workers, most of them foreigners, have been shot dead by masked gunmen in Iraq.

The victims, 15 from Iran and three from Iraq, were attacked as they dug a trench to extend a gas pipeline outside the town of al Muqdadiyah, 50 miles from Baghdad.

Five Iranians and two Iraqis were also injured in the bloodshed, police said.

Saddam was a butcher, a megalomaniac and lots of other things, but he controlled his country in a way Iraqis understood. Much the same as Gadaffi in Libya. The world was a more stable place with these people in power. While the intentions of Western leaders might have been well meant, by removing the devil they knew the door was left open for extremists to take over....and they did. None of these new leaders rule by democratic methods and have no intention of doing so.
The life of every serviceman and woman lost by the West and Iraq was a life wasted imho and nothing worthwhile was achieved.

Edited to add. This does not detract from the professionalism and courage of the service personnel of any of the Western Coalition Forces engaged.

Nobody doubts that Malena and Tony Blair lied about the WMD 45 minute warning , no conscience at all. The World order has changed dramatically and the thousands of Refugees , freezing in the snow in Lebanon is testimony to the damage done by Western interference.

Perhaps Blair's discovery of religion will ease any conscience he might have and leave him feeling warm and human-like inside, but the millions he has in his bank account helps a whole lot better....
