Phone Hacking

Sky News Online reporting "Former Sunday Mirror journalist Dan Evans has pleaded guilty to phone hacking." Twitter "chatter" has it that he also worked at the News of the World up to 2010 where he hoped to be "Investigations" editor. It is also being said he was into cracking "famous people's voicemails". The McCanns were famous during that time period (for all the wrong reasons); I wonder what this aspiring "Investigations Editor" uncovered about their conversations.

I find it really difflcult to believe that their phones weren't hacked given the non existant scruples of the hacks.

Me too!!! I still think the McCanns' phones were hacked as well as those of their companions and family members. If the hackers had the technical ability to hack entertainment celebrities why not the McCanns, et al. Some of these investigative journalists must have had their suspicions about the abduction theory and given the 'know how' could be sitting on info for future books.

Even without suspicion. On a public interest level, they were more hackable than the Pope ! They were the story of that summer.

Depends on which phones are used for what possibly. Most pay as you go are anon, cheap and disposable...

During that time period the McCanns had to be among the newsworthy individuals targeted.

I disagree whilst they might have been the obvious targets don't forget on their return from Portugal their home and phone was allegedly checked out for bugs and stuff and whoever was advising them would have known about obtaining message from voicemail, does anyone think that the pink one didn't know about that. gosh even I knew how to do that remotely, it was so easy so I am of the opinion that they were not hacked because they were told of the possibility.
