Re: Here we go again...
jinvta wrote:Detective Chief Inspector Andy Redwood, in charge of the hunt for Madeleine, accepted there were differences between these cases and that of Madeleine's disappearance but added that there was a possibility that she had not left her family's holiday apartment alive when she disappeared in May 2007.
Redwood said the assumption that Madeleine had been alive when she left the apartment "may not follow with all our thinking" on the case.
So, it sounds like Redwood's thinking is now along the same lines as Amaral, more likely dead than alive.
Hard to believe that this man would switch from 7-10 years olds at 2-5 am to a 3 year old at 9-10 pm. I don't see any similarity at all other than that they were girls.
Either that, or its what some of his pesky detective sergeants think and he can't ignore them any longer

Re: Here we go again...
This is going to go on, and on, and on, with Redwood beating about the periphery, I fear, until every oddball, or petty crook in Europe whether he was in PDL on the night, whether he has an alibi or not, has been flagged up as a suspect... especially if he is poor, a creepy paedo, 'swarthy', mentally slow, or as in this case, smelly! Anything to avoid looking at the bleedin' obvious: at the main players, the timeline, the patent inconsistencies, the lies told, the buckets of valid, if circumstantial, or 'indicative' evidence etc etc... It will go on until someone calls a halt to the Met's McCann case finances which allow them to keep poking about in the discarded entrails... a nice little earner for about 38 of them!
Perhaps Cameron would like to solve the case properly next year as an election booster?
The legal processes of Portugal may be slow, but they were known about beforehand, and the letter of the law is being followed. Keeping ON saying how hopeless things are, and how nobody is able to follow up all these marvellous 'leads' found by the met amongst stuff that has already been sifted by the PJ is ridiculous, if not ludicrous :-). Try reversing the situation and imagin SY's reaction if Portuguese politicians had seen to it that their team leader was taken off the the case for reasons of political meddling. Imagine how the Met would feel if the Portuguese Plod expected to come over to the UK and do their own thing their own way and started throwing their weight baout..
If I were a member of the current Portuguese Porto team, I would not trust English police colleagues not to blab stuff to the press if I shared information with them, nor would I be sure they would not derail an investigation if it were not to be going the way they wanted it.

Re: Here we go again...
Can you imagine, if this was an investigation by the English and the Portuguese police were behaving like the Brits are????
Sheeeesh, imagine the headlines in the tabloids.
"How dare the Portuguese question SY integrity"
"Jonny Foreigners think they know better than us"
"Child neglecting foreigners trash the dogs results"
I don't need to go on I'm sure

Re: Here we go again...
The Guardian article quoted Andy Redwood as saying: -
"While I completely accept that there are differences (between the break-ins and the McCann case), there is no abduction that we can see, but the assumption from that is that Madeleine McCann has been abducted. That may not necessarily follow with all our thinking about what may have become of Madeleine McCann.
"It is really critical for us to identify this offender and prove or disprove whether he was involved in Madeleine's disappearance."
Redwood said that if names are put forward, his team will be able to eliminate suspects from their inquiry. This suggests that police have DNA on file."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is no abduction that we can see!
Has this part of the article been removed? Someone copied and pasted to Jill Havern forum.

I think the other part is ridiculous...

How can they say....there is no abduction that we can see yet.......assume from that that Madeleine was abducted ....der....
What a complete plank...
'she could be alive...or she could be dead....bleeding ell....

Re: Here we go again...
I have read and re-read this quote and I think its the way its been printed; the punctuation is incorrect I think.
I have put the quote below and below that its with different punctuation.
While I completely accept that there are differences (between the break-ins and the McCann case), there is no abduction that we can see. But the assumption from that is that Madeleine McCann has been abducted, that may not necessarily follow with all our thinking about what may have become of Madeleine McCann.
You see, by moving the punctuation about it reads and makes more sense. He seems to my mind to be saying that the assumption that Madeleine McCann has been abducted does not follow with their thinking.

IF this is an accurate quote, then it is significant imo.

I agree, but then how often do parents do it? I mean for the body never to be found takes some doing and it is virtually unheard of. I can think of Nicola Payne from Coventry who has never been found, and Claudia Lawrence is another, but they were adults. How many children though apart from Madeleine and Ben Needham are missing never to be found again by the look of things?
No matter which way we all choose to look at it, it seems far fetched whichever scenario happened.

Re: Here we go again...
It usually is the parents or someone connected.
Talking of old cases getting solved it will be interesting to see how the Lee Boxell arrests pan out as thats looking like a sex case but no body yet.

Yes, that is another case to keep an eye on. Another SY case.
