Please pray for Svenja....missing since Monday 8am - IT WAS THE MOTHER!!!!!!

Svenja is 11 years old and was last seen on her way to school at 8am yesterday.  She is at boarding school and left her dorm to make the short journey to school but didn't arrive.

They have helicopters, dogs, fire brigade and even troops out looking for her.  There are volunteers combing the streets and surrounding area.  So far, nothing.

This is in the Canton of Zug, Switzerland.

As reported yesterday, 11-year-old Svenja Schönbächler left her accommodation at a boarding school in Unterägeri on Monday morning and she has not been seen since, despite an intensive search.
 
What is clear is that the schoolgirl left the premises at 8 am to go, it is thought, to another school building on Höhenweg. However, there has been a report that she was seen a few minutes later on Zugerbergstrasse, which is not on her way to school. The police were not informed she had gone missing until about 5 hours later.
 
Several units of the Zug Police, along with members of the Swiss Army, the Civil Defence Corps and a bloodhound subsequently made a search of various properties, paths and woodland in the area. Furthermore a police and an army helicopter were brought in to search the Aegeri Valley area.
 
As of 1.21 pm on Tuesday, there has still been no trace of the girl. An alert has been put out on the Schengen Information System both nationally and internationally. Checks on calls through her mobile phone, which she did not have with her, have proved fruitless.
 
At present the police are questioning those in her social circle to see if any leads can be found. While the search continues, the police have asked locals, particularly those in the Aegeri Valley, to keep a look out for the girl, and to make special checks if they have outbuildings or unoccupied property. Anyone with any information which may help is kindly asked to call the police on 041 728 41 41.
 
Just to remind readers, Svenja is around 140 centimetres tall and of slim build. She has very long light brown hair which may be tied into a plait. What is striking is that her fingernails are varnished alternately in blue and green. When last seen, she was wearing a pink jacket with a fur collar as in the second photograph.

It's a bit of a mystery. She was found in an apartment not far from where her mother lives. The owner came home to find her hiding there. Why she was there and how she got in is a puzzle.

It seems her parents were seperated and even though her mother lived minutes from the school, the child was boarding.

There's clearly a lot more to it than is being made public. The school didn't report her missing for five hours!

I'm just so relieved she's OK.

All credit to the response teams as well. They mobilised incredibly quickly once the were informed and they had the border guards on alert.

So glad she's been found safe. Hope the reason why she was hiding is nothing too terrible.

At least they were able to bring it to a very swift conclusion and the child was only 'missing' for one night. Poor kid.

I haven't been able to locate this news online, I take it then that this was staged as another phony abduction. Just glad the child was found safely. How horrible for any child to be put through such a traumatic experience by anyone, let alone her own mother.

There's nothing in English about this. It's been front page news in Switzerland though.

It seems the mother did this as a spur of the moment thing because she's mentally ill. The child was with her in the house when the police came to ask where she was, and the mother said 'I don't know', and it all went from there!

It's being reported that the mother has had issues in the past, and that's why the children were at the boarding school (which caters for children with behavioural issues).

The Swiss authorities are now deciding whether to bring charges, and if they can fine her because of the money wasted on the extensive search.
